This is a must have book if your big into these styles of beer.
Firstly the author goes into a well researched history of the styles. Then offers a breakdown of the different types within the styles (Dry Irish Stout, Brown Porter, Robust Porter etc). Then looks at the main ingredients; As porters and stouts are malt forward beers he primarily looks at the most common malts to use in the styles and usefully gives suggested percentage of the grist for each. He also looks at adjuncts like flavourings as well as suggestions for hops and yeast. Finally the last section is recipes. At least one for each of the different types of porter and stout in AG, partial, and extract.
