    Elderflower Infused Turbo Cider

I found a bottle of elderflower infused cider in Sainsburys a few weeks back (part of their "Taste the difference" range but made my Aspalls) and rather nice it is too - if ruinously expensive for what it is. As the elderflower season was (barely here in the south) still going I thought I'd have...

Turbo Cider - failed at the first hurdle?

Inspired by 1) This Forum and 2) that "Innocent" cloudy AJ was on a silly offer I thought I'd give some Turbo Cider a go. Filled a Demi John with about 4 litres of AJ, 1tsp pectalose, 70g sugar. Original Gravity of 1043 which sounded good. Pitched the yeast - and two hours later bubbles are...

    New in North Hampshire

Hi Mac, Up near Eastleigh. Fareham is my stop of point for supplies - 4u2brew in the high street. If anyone knows anywhere as good/comprehensive but a little closer I'd be happy for the heads up.

    worribout bottles exploding elderflower champagne

The reason is that it's a quick and dirty recipe :) Pint of dandelion heads, 800g sugar, 5ltr cold water, 2 lemons (1 juiced, 1 sliced) and 2 tsp white wine vinegar. Lobbed into a brand new Asda Smart Price washing up bowl and covered with a tea towel. Left for three days, strained into bottles...

    worribout bottles exploding elderflower champagne

I can understand why you would want glass bottles for aesthetic reasons, but honestly I'd urge you to consider using very well cleaned plastic bottles - lemonade, tonic water, supermarket table water etc. Bitter experience shows that glass ones will likely explode (or they'll blow the cork...

    Beech Leef Noyau

Resurrecting an old thread again! Made this last year, and kept it very simple - and did it with Vodka. --- Kilner jar of beach leaves (young green ones) Covered in 1ltr vodka (decentish vodka that was on offer) Left to steep for about a week. Filtered, then added a sugar mix of 250ml water and...

Blackberries from the back of the freezer.

Yes, I suppose it's the same principle as freezing sloes before sticking them into gin/vodka (I know some claim it makes no difference, but I've always done it.) Good point! If this works out okay then I'll make sure to freeze extra this year to get some brewing done in the "hunger gap". Can't...

Blackberries from the back of the freezer.

Okay, so inspired by the fact that blackberry cordial works okay with frozen stuff - and also inspired by the discovery of kilos of well frozen blackberries in the freezer, I've got a must going. 1.2kg of fruit after (mostly) defrosting them, 1.2kg sugar, dash of pectalose. I gave the fruit a...

    Hello, and good evening

I remember with fondness my grandmother's parsnip wine, and foraging from the supermarket "sell it now" aisle seems eminently sensible.

    Hello, and good evening

Evening all, I'm a total noob at brewing, but have been making "infusions" for several years (sloe vodka, beach leaf noyeau, orange vodka [cheap Cointreau!] and elderberry vodka in 2013). I've got a pretty decent level of expertise in the foraging department (all of the four Fs -- flora...
