    AG#1 infected or incredibly fast?

+1 on the s-04 ripping through ferment. I just put on an extract brew, pitched on Saturday afternoon, all over by Monday lunchtime. Bubbled like a nutter. It really seems to be the mentalist of dried yeast! I leave mine for 2 weeks in the FV too, compacts down nicely after that time.

    Extract boil volume

Hello, I'm going to attempt an extract brew soon and will be doing it in a 20l pot, so not full volume. The recipe says boil 10L for 90 mins, but do I keep the boil topped up so it is always at 10L or just let it boil down? Also, I presume I could scale up to say, 14L if the pot will take it...

New to Extract Brewing - Help please...

Hi All, I’m starting my extract brewing adventure and am now armed with a nice new 20L pot, so it’s not going to be full volume (can’t fit a big one on the stove) and I’m asking for a bit of advice. I’m going to start by brewing some ales form the book – Homebrew Beer by Greg...

    Little Bottler Bubbles

Hi, Bottling up last night with my Little Bottler and noticed that it was pushing bubbles up through the beer. Looking closer I saw that there seemed to be air trapped in the tap assembly. I took off the wand and ran a bit of beer through the tap through, but the air still stayed in there...

What to do for a quick brew?

Coopers Stout - you can almost drink it straight out of the fermenter.

Christmas ale thinking of adding port?

Harrow Brew - I had that very same ale and have been searching for it again for years. It came in a black bottle with white writing and I'm pretty sure it had 'Ruby' in the tile in red. It was truly delicious but I couldn't find any even a week later. It even inspired me to mix port with my HB...

    Coopers English bitter - problem?

I did one of these a few months back - pretty much exactly the same readings as yours. I couldn't get it any lower, so bottled it, 10 days in the warm then out into the cold. It was pretty harsh at first, but mellowed after a month of conditioning into a lovely brew. I'd leave it a couple of...

    Almondbury Old - Help!

Hi All, I put a Brupacks Almondbury Old Ale into the FV on Sunday, re-hydrated the yeast (11g of Nottingham) and pitched at about 23 degs and put it in a water bath at 18 degrees. On Monday the temp was 21 degs and today it is back to 18 degs. I haven’t had one bubble through the airlock, I...

    Good Bottle Cappers?

Cheers guys, looks like I'll be returning this one to wilkos for a refund (after finishing this batch  ) and getting a proper one. Can't afford a bench one as yet, so a metal twin levered one will fit the bill.

    Good Bottle Cappers?

Hi, I've just returned my second bottle capper to Wilkos - would have asked for a refund but I'm half way through bottling so needed and exchange sharpish! Both of these stopped capping after little use. The last one I had, the round bit that grabs the bottleneck all bent up. It even broke the...

    Coopers stout stuck?

Bumped the temp up to 20 degs last night and I think it's bubbling a bit now. Will give it a gentle stir later and see what happens. Maybe it was getting cold overnight.

    Coopers stout stuck?

Dropped the coopers yeast all over the kitchen floor. Luckily I had the wilkos stuff in the fridge. Never drink and brew kids...never drink and brew. Will give it a stir tomorrow. Cheers!

    Coopers stout stuck?

Hi All, I have a coopers stout in the fv, has been there for 2 weeks at around 18 degrees. I brewed it with 1kg of BKE2, 300g of brown sugar and some yeast nutrient. I also used wilkos ale yeast instead of the kit yeast. SG was 1044, but after 2 weeks it has only dropped to 1014 - is this...

    Bottling and yeast

FV in the cold for two days, bottling bucket in the cold for 2 days - is that good? It's really cold, btw, probably around 5 - 8 degs on some nights...

    Bottling and yeast

Hi All, I have a FV of coopers that has been fermenting for just over two weeks and I need a bit of advice on bottling. If I drop it into my bottling bucket and leave it in the cold for a few days, will there be enough yeast in it to secondary ferment when I bottle it? Cheers, D
