Hi Al, I did receive your pm thanks. I was in wilko the other day and stocked up as they've got their sale on. Unfortunately I received your reply just after the shopping spree! I'll prob still take one kit off you, so will text you when I know when next down in Kent. Cheers, Adam

Sale: 4 Wilko golden ale kits Canterbury Kent

I just thought I'd check these kits haven't sold yet. I'll prob down in Kent in the next couple of weeks. If they are still available then I'll take a couple of them off your hands. Also can I collect them during the day, or are you only around in the evening if it's a weekday? Cheers, Adam

Sale: 4 Wilko golden ale kits Canterbury Kent

That's good then as I might now be able to get down to you for a little while! I'd like to get this brewing fairly soon though so I can drink it over summer. Anyway I'll message you again when I know when I'm going to be down your way. Cheers, Adam

Sale: 4 Wilko golden ale kits Canterbury Kent

I'd happily take a couple of these kits off your hands, only problem is I'm over in Herts and I don't know when I'll be down in Kent next. I'm down there from time to time with work, so if I'm down there in next few weeks I'll message you to see if you've still got them. Cheers, Adam

    Wilko Dark Velvet Stout

Having done a bit more reading up on this subject, it would appear that whilst it might give the beer an 'off taste' any bacteria present should be killed off and shouldn't therefore cause anyone to get sick from drinking it, unless of course they overdo it!

    Wilko Dark Velvet Stout

I finally got round to brewing this kit. I thought I'd stick with standard kit to start with and tweak it next time. I added 1kg of beer enhancer, left for just over a week and added around 85g of brewing sugar today when I tranferred from FV to pressure barrel. I have a bit of a head cold at...

Thank you Nic I've checked out their website and they've got loads of different sizes available.

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

Thanks Nic, Where do you normally buy the polypins from? I've looked online and the price seems to vary quite a bit. Thanks, Adam

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

Thanks Joe, I've got a couple of caps for the pb with co2 bulb attachments so I guess I could always add a blast of co2 if required. Cheers, Adam

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

Hi Nic, Do you syphon the beer straight from the fv to the polypin and what size polypin would you recommend me getting? Finally does this method enable the beer engine to be connected straight to the polypin without any need for the check valve? Sorry for all the questions! Cheers, Adam

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

Once again excuse my ignorance here, but I've never used a polypin so would I syphon the beer from the fv to the polypin and allow it to condition in there? Also if using this method would it need to be drank fairly quickly? Thanks, Adam

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

Thanks for the prompt replies. I've got two spare pressure barrels, so I was hoping to rig it up so that the pressure barrel is mounted up on a shelf so that its up higher than the pump, connect tubing to the tap and secure with jubilee clip, then attach the check valve just before the tube...

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

I've done a bit more research on this and it would appear that I need to install a check valve between the beer engine and pressure barrel (around 12 inches or so from the engine). Does anyone know where I can source one of these from? I've looked on ebay and what's listed on there seems to...

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

Thanks Archtronics, I had thought about going down the corny route but wondered if it would be possible to go down the budget route! I assume I'd just use a jubilee clip to connect the end of the pipe to the barrel tap? I'd also read on other posts about installing some kind of non return...

adding a hand pump to presure barrel

I appreciate that this was posted a while back but I wondered if you ever had any success hooking up a pressure barrel to some sort of pump / dispensing tap? I'm contemplating trying something similar in a brew shed project so just wondered whether you managed to get something sorted? Cheers...

    Wilko Dark Velvet Stout

I thought I'd give a stout a go, so I bought one of these kits today from Wilko's along with the 1kg Geordie Beer Enhancer pack. I've not done a single kit brew before so I'm assuming I simply add all 1kg of the beer enhancer in place of sugar, is this right? I will then add around 85g of...

    Wilko Golden Ale

Tastes okay and nice levels of carbonation. It's been in the barrel for two three weeks now, so reckon it will only improve with time!

    Wilko Golden Ale

Thanks Speccy, I'm pleased to hear that your brew turned out fine in the end. I've left it for a couple of days since I've re-primed it and have now moved it somewhere cool to clear the beer. It seems to be holding pressure nicely now and the bottom of barrel is bulging slightly. How long...
