    hydrometer faulty?

The temperature of your sample will effect the gravity reading, your hydrometer should tell you what temperature it is calibrated to on it somewhere. Then either get the sample to that temperature or use a site like this one http://www.brewersfriend.com/hydrometer-temp/ to adjust it accordingly.

    STC 1000 for kegerator

I don't know this scientifically but it seems logical to assume that turning it off and on all of the time is going to cause some damage to it eventually. The STC-1000 has a built in delay that will stop it from turning back on for that period of time after turning off, setting this to a good...

Can one of these be used for primary...

I've never had an issue with it. Can put in a blow off tube if it is something that is likely to ferment like crazy.

Can one of these be used for primary...

I assume you are talking about something like this http://bit.ly/19TGAC8. There is no problem using that as primary, pretty much exactly what I use. I don't really subscribe to the oxygen seeping through the plastics argument so I use plastic for secondary too (lighter, cheaper, doesn't break...

Buffalo boiler help needed urgently! Cutting out

I would say if you have another extension lead then give it a go if the problem re-occurs. I still do not know why mine plays up, but with one extension lead it cuts out near boiling the other one it just boils away.

Buffalo boiler help needed urgently! Cutting out

Are you plugging the boiler straight into a socket? Mine used to cut out with one extension lead but doesn't with another extension lead.

Stir Plate how to with lots of pics

Hey regaltabs, Just wanted to say thanks for the great build guide. I put almost all of this together last night. I had an old router adapter kicking around (12v) so I used that for the power and I had a 120mm fan too so no need to buy that, bought all the rest of the bits though and it was...

    Beer bottles

Badger ales have the easiest to remove labels I have ever removed. I would also recommend asking the local pub / brewery about bottles. Friends and family have given me so many, I have considered a dawn raid of the recycling bins on my street but I haven't got their quite yet.

How to fit a ball valve and hop stopper to a Buffalo boiler

All of mine arrived the next day apart from one part but one they eventually sent that out it came the next day too. To be fair they had said on the website it was out of stock. So assuming you didn't have any of that they should be with you tomorrow.

    What is your annual spend?

I know how much I spend on all of my hobbies, doesn't mean that I won't spend more on them or enjoy them just means that budget wise I know how much it's costing me.

    4-Way Secondary c02 Regulator

Thanks man, I appreciate it, that picture looks a lot like what I was thinking and I agree they do tend to be hard to find.

    4-Way Secondary c02 Regulator

Nice one man, how do you find it? do you tend to serve two multiple styles of drink with it at different pressures?

    4-Way Secondary c02 Regulator

It is a temperature controlled Keezer, pretty good control over the temperature and everything is served at the same temp. I tend to have mostly the same things on tap, one ginger beer, one ale, one cider and then one other, I don't mind messing around with that last beer line length too much...

    4-Way Secondary c02 Regulator

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to secondary air regulation, I have seen a few builds from America that use the 4 way secondary regulators that they sell on KegWorks and that looks like it would meet my needs nicely. However, I have not been able to find anything in the UK and...

Dave Draper : dedicated country winemaker on damson hunt

If you have a smartphone you can get a few apps that are good for pinning things onto a map. I use android and "My Tracks" is a good option, it will track your walk and you can add a waypoint when you find something of interest like a fruit bush or tree. You can bring it up on your PC later to...

    Hello

Hello all, I have been hanging around for a little while but thought that it would make sense to actually start posting. I always liked the idea of homebrewing especially cider but didn't really know where to start. Before Christmas my grandad passed away and when clearing his house I inherited...
