    any photographers in the house?

Fully manual, focus and aperture. The adaptor rings you can buy generally place them far enough in front of the lens to focus the same as the original camera fit. As for focusing, I have a Sony NEX with an EVF, the NEX range has a great feature called focus peaking, it colours the edges in...

    any photographers in the house?

Have you considered going old skool and looking out for some old manual lenses. You can pair them with an inexpensive adaptor and get some great results. I use a Sony NEX-7 (like a DSLR but without the mirror), I have a 50mm f1.8 Canon FD lens, it is a great lens for portraits, comes out at 80mm...

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

Tried a bottle of this yesterday. Bottled on 9th May, so still a bit to go yet. First thing, not very fizzy, although once in a decent glass I got a bit of fizz from it. Second thing, chilled it down in a bucket of ice, and it came out hazy. I used finings before bottling, could the yeasties...

Wish I had saved mine, drank some of it far too young and then decided to dispose of the rest. Sadly, that was before I found this place.

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

I was amazed how quickly this cleared. Even though I used finings in the FV it bottled quite cloudy even after 5 days restgin after finings addition. Once in the bottle it was starting to clear overnight, perhaps 1cm of clear liquid in the 1st 24hrs. Now after 10 days in the shower it is in the...

    St Peters Golden Ale review

I didn't leave mine long enough, but hoppy is definitely a word I would use to describe what I had.

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

So I didn't get round to bottling it. The finings went in on Saturday, it is now Thursday, will this mean that everything including the yeast will have dropped out, or will there be sufficient yeasties left to start carbonate the product while it conditions? Should I add a little of the sludge...

:thumb: Thanks Stuart, going to bottle it this evening, it's had 3 days to clear since I added the finings.

I had too wondered if there were better rates anywhere, although couldn't see anything. However, I used Ballihoo for my latest order and delivery charge and speed was better than my previous supplier, will use them again! :thumb:

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

Seem to have disposed of the instructions, anyone suggest how much sugar to use for priming before bottling. Planning on batch priming in 2nd FV.

    Chips!

Parboil them in very salty water first until they are softening, drain and them rough 'em up a bit by shaking the pan. Leave to go cold and then fry in very hot oil 190+ until golden, lovely crispy outside.

    St Peters Golden Ale review

I had the same overpowering hoppy taste, but then the original bottled stuff is quite hoppy too. I didn't leave it long enough to improve, put it down to a beginners mistake and drank it far too early. Would be keen to hear how you get on in a few weeks/months with it

    Re: Wilko's Delicate Pilsner

Put one of these on last week, I added a brew enchancer pack as per the instructions and a little extra brewing sugar. The thing was off like a train, bubbling within 4 hours of adding the yeast. I remembered to take a reading off the hydrometer. 8 days on the fermentation appears to all but...

I tried a bottle on Sunday, that's around 12 days in the bottle. Wasn't particularly sparkling nor was it exactly clear. But i was impatient. Biggest point to me ws that it had quite a sharp bitterness to it, hoppy I suppose (it was a bit grassy) but quite strong, very similar to the aftertaste...

    Wilkinson deal on wherry

Found it online - http://www.wilko.com/home-brewing/wilko ... vt/0318949 Anyone used their pressure barrel, reviews seem okay, but it sounds a little flimsy.

I didn't see that when I was in ours the other day, or is it online?

    Prosecco!!

Might be interested in giving this a go, I am sure I have a demijohn somewhere abouts. I have a few PET bottles left over from the beer. Anyone actually tried it yet? Has anyone tried the recipe as is, I don't have a clue where to start in terms of bunging extra things (tea etc. to it), want to...

    Newbie Wherry advice needed

UPDATE - Stupid mistake dawned on me. I tried a bottle of mine last night, 2 weeks since bottling, just moved from the house to the garage. It tasted a little weak in my opinion, reasonable fizz to it, no head as such and not quite cleared fully, the flavour just wasn't there, a little...

I realise it will clear more when in a cooler area, but the last one (St Peter's Golden Ale) cleared very well in the warmth of the house, just wanted to make sure I hadn't lost it. Thans for the reply.
