Sorry about the hydrometer, I've broken bigger things than that this week and the typo pectolase. Add one teaspoon per gallon and leave 24 hours before pitching the yeast. It's a pectin destroyer and gives you a clear brew. ;)

Not wanting to tie up a 25L fermenter for TC I've been brewing in an 18.5L water bottle, the type you see on drinks dispensers. I initially put in 16L and a further 2L when the action has died down. As an entry level fermenter they're for nothing ;) The only things required are your juice...

Had a taste of the Sweepings Ale I did the other week which included 0.5k of malted oats. It has a much fuller flavour than my others. All I can say if you ain't tried them don't knock them.

I all went Ian :thumb: I got 23L @1040 but reduced the boil time to 60 mins. Heated the sparge water to 80C in the HLT to compensate for the cold weather. Back inthe house at 3.30pm. Washed the car and cleared some snow as well.

4.2kg MO 0.2 Crystal 0.2 Toriffied wheat Mash 90 mins 34g Target 10% AA 90 min 8 St Golding 2.7% 15 min 5 Fruggles 0 min Mashed in at 10.10am, ambient temp 4.7C, HL taken up to 75C, Mash temp 65.3C without adding cold water.
