    Vimto

🤣 next up: feeding the population of Merseyside with a tin of Value sardines and a pot noodle before moving on to bigger challenges like raising the dead?

    Vimto

Hi, if you use the search function you'll find a few threads on this subject. The general consensus seems to be that due to the preservatives in Vimto it isn't really practical to use for wine. There does seem to be a few Vimto cider threads out there, so maybe check those out?

    Gyro's big day

Thanks. The fermentation, whilst sounding vigorous hasn't created bubbles in the airlock so far. I can hear it fizzing away merrily so perhaps the CO2 is escaping elsewhere.

    Gyro's big day

Hello all, I finally got the time to do a bit of brewing! Actually it was on Wednesday, but here goes. First on the agenda was a Ciderworks Superior cider kit. I started off by thoroughly satanising the equipment. This was achieved by playing Venom's 1981 album "Welcome to Hell" at it at...

    Wine kits recommendations

Wurzel's Orange Wine. Wurzel's Orange Wine I believe. Now a forum abbreviation for any supermarket juice wine.

    XL Bully

I personally think that the "no bad dogs, just bad owners" idea, whilst not being completely accurate does have a ring of truth. Larger, potentially more aggressive breeds are often sought out by chavvy types to compensate for their half inch willies, or drug dealers to use as weapons. The...

Contradictions in sugar content formulae - they can't all be right!

Not sure if I'm reading this right, but are you including the sugar that will be in the 1.7kg grape concentrate in your calculations?

    Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit IPA

I've just ordered one of these kits thanks to all the glowing reports in this thread. Looking forward to cracking on with it in the near future, although I do have other kits I need to get on with soon.

    How many units [poll]

I'm half proud and half ashamed to admit that I can do pretty much double the high amount most weeks. A bottle of wine a night most nights plus a few beers on the rare occasions I get to go out can add up pretty quickly. I do try to give my long suffering liver a rest every few months though.

    Old Boots pressure barrels

I may be interested if I can hide it from swmbo 😀. Would that be pick up or could you post?

    Old Boots pressure barrels

Well, I dusted off my old barrels, gave 'em a good wash with cleaner/sanitiser and they're looking pretty good. I noticed that one, dated 1994 had a bit of an air leak from the CO2 valve, however the 1996 stamped one was sound. I barrelled up my latest kit brew in the '94 barrel, but used the...

    Old Boots pressure barrels

Thanks. The link was for the square o rings which I will try. I'm not sure I need to worry about replacing the caps just yet, but will heed your advice if I need to do so in the future.

    Old Boots pressure barrels

Nice one 👍. Thanks for the link, I will treat my barrels to some of those in the very near future 🙂

Thanks for the prompt and encouraging reply 👍

    Old Boots pressure barrels

Is anyone still using these? I'm returning to homebrewing after a long lay off, and wondering if my three Boots plastic pb's are likely to still be of use. Would I have to replace the taps, or would just changing the washers suffice? If so, what washers/taps would be suitable? Also they have...

    Hi all

Thanks for the welcomes 🙂. I will indeed start a brew day thread when I start my next brew, although I think people would be learning from my mistakes rather than experience 🤣.

    Hi all

Hello all, may I start by saying thanks for approving my membership. I'm returning to homebrewing after many years of inactivity. I started off with a John Smith's bitter kit way back when, and made a few brews, mainly from kits, progressing up to my legendary (amongst my friends anyway)...
