    Slow fermentation... or is it?

That sounds rather wonderful. 😄 Keen to do a Trappist style myself at some point. I shall follow your lead on this one - cheers!

    Slow fermentation... or is it?

I think it was a bit warmer, if I recall rightly! I might pop the temp up a couple of degrees, see what that does. 👍🏻

    Slow fermentation... or is it?

I just used one pack - I used the same yeast and quantity before for a Belgian quad and it reached 11% fairly briskly! But every brew is different and that previous one had Belgian candi and brewing sugar in fairly hefty quantities. I'm not in a hurry for it to finish, and as long as it's...

    Slow fermentation... or is it?

Another newbie question (will they ever end? 🤣) ... just wondering how slow is slow fermentation, and is this something I should be worried about? Pretty much all my brews have pretty rapid fermentation, and it's all done and dusted within 4-5 days of kick-off. This one seems to have slowed down...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Still on my very rough experimental bitter. It tastes very smoky today, rather like Nigerian Guinness with that bitter sorghum twang.

Mixed Gas - What Lines Do I Need?!

I have a cylinder of mixed gas that I want to use with my porters and stouts, but I have no idea what diameter of line I need to use with this regulator. I've examined it, searched it online, but I'm just not sure what I need to go for. I'm sure some experienced brewer will be able to answer...

Interesting! Never tried one, but I did read about them recently on the Grainfather forums. What didn't you like?

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

My experimental 7.3% bitter - very bitter, very dark, rather tarry, but it slips down rather easily. Just back Hessen, Germany. So much incredible beer over there, and so many styles! Definitely inspired to get a few wheat-beers on the go.

Experimental Bramble Bitter - Use 'Em Up

That sounds like a plan for sure - ditch the fruit and use an essence. 👍🏻

Experimental Bramble Bitter - Use 'Em Up

Quick question on an experimental recipe - using up some malt from my store which was approaching its best before, plus some hop pellets. It's going to be a funny sort of bitter (using ale yeast), and I'm thinking of adding brambles (or blackberries as my English wife and readers from south o'...

    Tilt Connection Issues - Maybe?

Mine seems to have sorted itself now - last five or six brews I've done I've no issues with connectivity. I made some changes to my brewing area though, moved the G-Cast to a better location... really not sure what caused it. 🤔

How to sort hugely over-carbonated beer

I'm willing to try it! Thanks. I'll report back on the results. 😄

How to sort hugely over-carbonated beer

That is an excellent question. I've tweaked it so many times that I can't honestly remember... I'll try to recall. It started off with a low-carbonation problem, then I got some helpful advice on forced-carbonation on this forum and got the pour absolutely spot on - cranked the psi up to 30 and...

How to sort hugely over-carbonated beer

Hi folks, it's the newbie again, in another spot of bother! This time it's a massive overcarbonation problem. The beer is in two corny kegs, in a three-tap kegarator, with CO2. I've tried tweaking the temperature and the pressure, I've tried releasing all the gas from the kegs and then...

    Flat beer with tap system

Followed the advice in this video (rolling, shoogling the kegs) and it's worked an absolute treat. Thank you! 🍻

    Flat beer with tap system

Thank you all for your exceedingly helpful advice on this thread - much appreciated! I now have perfectly carbonated beer from both my kegs! 🍻

    Flat beer with tap system

Okay! I've had it a around 9, which sounded a bit low, but I was doing what a calculator online told me to for schwarzbier. 😅 I'll crank the pressure up and leave it for a while, see what happens!
