Does anyone else ever get a slight film feeling in there mouth from there beer kits and how fo I prevent the same ?

Hi I've brewed st peters golden ale tastes great but has turned out same colour as a Ruby ale or bitter any suggestions whats happened. I kept it in fermentation for just over a wk rather than the 4 days recommended would this alter colour?
