Yesterday, I brewed an Altbeir. It looked and smelled amazing going into the fermenter and I look forward to having 40 bottles of the lovely stuff to sample with friends and family during the dark nights of winter. Prost!

Small glass of a neck oil clone. Side by side with the original it's distinguishable, but on it's own its like you're drinking the real thing.

Question: I want to make a 5L starter and I only have a 3L flask...could I clean and sanitise a saucepan, boil up the starter wort and just use the saucepan as the container? This will fit on the stirplate and allow me to use the stir bar. I know I can do step ups, and I know I can use a 5L...

Had a mate over to brew a biritsh golden ale...ignored the 'no beers til cold side'...I don't think I messed anything up. But my measurements were approximate. We shall see! Back to nursing my hangover.

Good thread! I like the 'alchemy' of it. Something about knowing the brew is chugging away in the garage being turned into liquid gold, and the anticipation that comes with eventually cracking that first bottle and finding out whether you have made something incredible - I don't think it will...
