Have a go at simple AG

The brew finished at 1.023, double-checked with a hydrometer. It's *ok*, quite watery, and hoppier than expected. I can work through the batch on the summery days, but I'm curious why it plateaued so heavily. Next time, I'm going to try to aerate it more and maybe add yeast nutrients. My yeast...

Have a go at simple AG

Luckily I'm measuring the gravity - it seems the brew has stalled out at around 1.023, although it's only been 2 days. I think it was due to the high mash temp reducing the amount of fermentables. The 0.02 drop in a day seems a bit steep, too. Wonder what happened here! Will keep this going...

Have a go at simple AG

That's a solid idea! Start at 60ish, set the stove to the lowest heat setting, and just leave it for the hour. I read somewhere that if you keep your mash at 75degrees+, there's a chance of a 'mash-out', I think they called it. That won't be a problem if it's at the end of your mash! One for...

Have a go at simple AG

The First AG brew is happily bubbling away in the fermenter as we speak! Done it yesterday. It was messy but great fun. Lots learned along the way. Recipe: 3L of our finest Scottish council juice in the brew vessel, another 3L for sparging, in the end it boiled down to around 4.5L 1kg Maris...

    Bubbler on the side?

A shelf is a better long-term solution. "46 KG of liquid in the top two FV's sat on top of a flimsy lid of the bottom FV is not going end well." This made me realise the idiocy of the plan! Thanks for speaking some sense into me, fellas! 😅

    Bubbler on the side?

I guess my idea was to stack 3+ buckets vertically in an effort to conserve space. Hopefully my diagram helps 😁

    Bubbler on the side?

This seems like a good solution, but the entry is still at the top. Will it be an issue if it's off to the side, just slightly below the top of the bucket?

    Bubbler on the side?

Hi! I've recently acquired a bunch of buckets I want to use as my FV, and I noticed that all buckets supplied by stores in kits and whatnot always have the airlock/bubbler on the top. I live in a small flat, so space is of the essence, so I wanted to drill holes and fit o-rings about 2cm from...

    Hey Folks! 👋

Hey Folks! Been lurking on this forum over the past couple of days and I've decided to make an account. I've made two homebrews so far. Both extracts. First went down an absolute storm, and the second one is fermenting as I type :). I'm already looking into expanding the volumes of brew I can...

Question on fermentation times and temps

From what I've read, as long as the temperature is stable, and within the correct operating temperature of the yeast, you should be all good. Don't sweat it :)
