    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

There's no point in brewing if you don't look forward to drinking it? 😁

In Progress: How To: Service a Hi-Gene Beer Engine

Evening folks. Would you mind looking at the attached and if you know, could you advise whether it's a completely sealed unit please? I'm not sure whether it actually comes apart. Many thanks 👍

In Progress: How To: Service a Hi-Gene Beer Engine

This sounds great 👍 I've just started refurbishing a Hi-Gene. Shame all the photos have disappeared, but the parts list and Tube sizes are priceless, you have my gratitude!

WHC Einstein yeast is a slow starter?

I pitched 2 packs for a Märzen and although it took 48 hours to show any airlock activity, I could see the gravity falling on my tilt. In my experience with liquid yeast starters for lagers, they all take a fair while to "appear" active, unless I do a two litre starter. I'll be putting Pilsner...

    Centennial Blonde Advice

I had a fair bit left over from the keg so rather than bottle I put it through the engine. Tastes quaffable. It's a lot clearer after it settles. Now to see what the keg's like.

    Centennial Blonde Advice

Kegged it today. Nailed the FG 1.010, looking forward to trying it. I went with the keggerator (sorry Baron) because I forgot I've got a bitter conditioning in the fridge with the beer engine and it would have been a squeeze. If it turns out to be a winner, I'll likely rebrew it again for the...

    Novalager

Hmm that's weird as the mash temps were fine, maybe it was the grain choice, although the cream ale had flaked maize in it so that's surprising.

That's excellent and just what I was after, thank you.

    Novalager

I've brewed two beers with this now, so I thought I'd put my tuppeny's worth in. I found it hard to get it to full attenuation at 11°c and it ended up making my Schwartzbier more like a stout. It tastes wonderful, but it's nowhere near what I would have got with WLP800, or 820. I made a Lime...

    Centennial Blonde Advice

Good day Brewers and Brewster's, I've brewed a Centennial Blonde for the first time and it's completely fermented out in just under 3 days. I've dumped the dead yeast and trub; now I need to decide what conditioning to do. 1) Treat it like an American IPA, keg it and carbonate at 12 PSI for a...

    First brew from all grain

I'd proffer the opinion that you should mentally write off your first attempt at anything you try for the first time. My first beers were awful, but you soon learn what you did wrong and it's very rare that I repeat the same mistake (mainly because I'm tight and I hate wasting money). Also...

    Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde

I finished brewing my attempt at 04:00ish Sunday morning, I'm using MJM36 (because I had some) which has taken off like a rocket. Unfortunately it's slightly higher ABV wise than I wanted, but if it's as good as people suggest then I'll likely brew it again. The smell of the cascade were...

You'll get citrus fermenting that high, unless it's under pressure.

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

I've just started watching Hell on Wheels on FreeVee. It's a tad slow to begin with, but I'm really enjoying it now. Good if you like Westerns.

    Brewnaldos brewday

As a fellow sad middle aged man, that too would please me greatly. The delayed start ability on the Grainfather is one of my favourite features.
