This is great! Thanks for posting it!

    Overnight hop stand

Hello! The overnight hop stand was fine, no off flavours and from memory there wasn't a significant increase in IBUs. One thing I did notice though is that I can't really taste the hop flavour still. So just last week I did an overnight hop stand but once the wort had reached 40C. I'm...

    Overnight hop stand

@Hazelwood Brewery - great, I was thinking it would be around that value for IBUs too! Fingers crossed there is no vegetal flavours! Thanks for the info @Paul7189 - I need to buy some more hops so I'll pick up one of the ones you suggested. Maybe that's where I've been going wrong! I've been...

    Overnight hop stand

I was wondering: what's the longest hop stand anyone has tried? I've been brewing for about 5 years, and when I get round to doing an IPA it's never hoppy enough! Recently I read about "no-chill" which is what I've been doing all this time, and have come to realise my late additions have...

The Love Brewing Trick or Treat Giveaway!

If I win I'd go with... Red Rebellion IPA. I've never used Cascade or Mosaic hops before so I'd be interested to give them a go/taste. Thanks LoveBrewing (and the forum!)

Hops / hop tea for drinking

I guess I was looking for a shortcut to having to do that, even though I would end up with 3 different pale ales - great news! It feels like too much effort to have three beers on the go, then racking, priming, bottling all three, and then the clean up! But maybe there is no shortcut

Hops / hop tea for drinking

Just read your post - I like it. I'll try adding a small amount of hop tea to some lager and see what happens. As a quick update, now that the "tea" has cooled down it's somewhat palatable but still incredibly bitter!

Hops / hop tea for drinking

So I'm always brewing with Styrian, Hallertauer, and Saaz but I'm never sure exactly what they taste like. Sure I can smell them or brew a smash beer, but I want to know how they taste, and try out some other hop varieties! I was reading about making tea from hops to get an idea of what...

    Control panel timer

Fair point, although I'm no Yuri Gagarin. Would love to create a great beer though and get it out there!

    brewbuilders 3kW elements

Sorry, you're absolutely right. For some reason I thought 1.5mm was only rated to 10A

    brewbuilders 3kW elements

If it's 240V then I'm pretty sure you need 2.5mm flex for that kind of amperage.

    Control panel timer

Over the past few months I've been inspired by TheElectricBrewery.com to build my own kettle and control panel. One part of their setup is to use an Omega / Eagle countdown timer. http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/control-panel-part-1?page=12 Looking around they seem pretty expensive or hard...

I've not got any experience myself, but I did look at getting one of those, and saw this video which was pretty helpful:

    Sanitising nylon straining bags

FWIW, I find that just soaking the bags in a sterilising solution for 10 minutes works fine.
