What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Drinking my Cascade Green Hop. The wife helped pick the hops while I was mashing, which was a massive help. 5kg of Simpsons Pale Ale malt and US-05 Yeast. Used some leftover 30g of EKG pellets from frozen for bittering. 150g of freshly picked Cascade hops from my garden at 10 minutes to...

    What did you brew today?

Kernel is an awesome brewery and I appreciate that they still bottle as opposed to can. I've hijacked their Pale Ale yeast to make a beer before by using the residue at the bottom of three bottles and making a starter. If I tried cloning one of their beers, I'd probably do something similar...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Drinking the last bottle of the first Pale Mild I've ever made from back in April. Quite clear and packed with flavour. 3.0% ABV. For about 24 litres kegged and bottled, the grist was 3.0kg Mild Malt, 0.7kg Light Munich Malt, and 20g EKG hop pellets, and Nottingham Yeast. Will have to make it...

Higher stout consumption driven by female drinkers

Just stumbled upon this thread. I saw this being sold about a decade ago down south. Think it might only be up norf now. I think it's currently made by Tennets and looks to be marketed towards the ladies.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Drinking a HB DIPA made from left overs. Four base malts: Mainly Simpson's Extra Pale, but also Golden Promise, Pilsner and Wheat. I put in a touch of roasted barley too, since I've found it works well with Bitters and IPAs. It's hopped with Mosaic and Citra for 73 IBUs. Used Kveik Voss...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Bought a beer kit from Wilko (aka The Range). £16.43 (kit and sugar) for "20 litres of Lager", plus I got cash back on TopCashBack. Sounds too good to be true, so I tried it. The 20 litres was a bit much for a keg, so I shorted the water slightly for 19 litres since I didn't want to bother...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Drinking one of my 2024 Barleywines that I bottled a few months ago to check the carbonation. 10.2% ABV. Tastes fine, but concerned about the amount of head it has. Will check again in a few months.

Drinking the last of an IPA I made to propogate yeast for an American Style Barleywine. The IPA was 5kg of Golden Promise, 500g of Biscuit Malt, Vic Secret Hops for bittering and flavour, and Idaho-7 hops for flavour and aroma. Used US-05 yeast at 18C. Packaged about 24 litres at 4.6% ABV...

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

I'm drinking my Mystery Hop Ale. Bought a new house about a year ago and the lady who was in it before planted some hops in the garden. I have no idea what kind they are. First I made a Green Hop with the hops I harvested, which tasted good - bittered with packaged hops, and mystery hops for...

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Drinking a HB Blackberry Wheat Ale. 3kg Lager Malt, 2kg Wheat Malt, 20g of Pilgrim, and Wyeast 1010 American Wheat yeast. Used 1.2kg of blackberries picked by myself and my daughter from the brambles in August and used them in secondary. Packaged about 23 litres at 5.4% ABV. Tastes good...

Celebrating Bonfire Night by drinking my HB Eisbock bottled in March 2022. Simple ingredients, but the most technically challenging beer I've ever made. The grist was 1/3 Bohemian Pilsner, 1/3 Munich Type 1, and 1/3 Vienna. I made a doppelbock, froze it, removed the ice, and bottled with...

Drinking (or trying to drink) the remainder of my Green Hop Ale I made from the hops I thought were growing over the garden fence from the neighbour, but were mine. Glad it finally cleared-up and while not incredible, it's competent. Still don't have a clue what kind of hops they are. Have a...

    What did you brew today?

Thought I'd give Kveik yeast a try today for the first time, so I made a Galaxy IPA using Voss. 7kg Golden Promise 0.5kg Crystal 100g Galaxy 23 litres to the FV at 1.072 OG. Using a heat pad with my Inkbird for the first time and have it set on 35C.

Neighbour's ornamental hops growing over the fence into my garden

Thank you @MashBag @Clarence and @Northern_Brewer for the input. It was extremely useful. I was on the fence (pun intended) regarding using the hops as bittering in addtion to a late addition. However, I think I have some Fuggles, East Kent Goldings, and Pilgrim on hand which I could use...
