    First Witbier.

I have a couple of questions when using raw wheat do you mash it as normal or does it need special treatment? when I last did a witbier/hoegarden it tasted great (25g orange and coriander), but it was clear as a bell! Is it possible to get the cloudy appearance of a hoegarden when you are using...

    Cleaning kegs

Spot on. I do exactly the same steps. I dismantle the keg for deep cleaning of the posts probably once every 4 or so brews which given the number of kegs I have its probably every 10 -12 months.

Recommendation For Fridge to Convert to a Fermentation Fridge

It looks like my current fermentation fridge is now on it's last legs and is struggling to maintain temperature below 14 degrees, so it's time for a trawl through fleabay, gumtree etc to find a replacement. I've a range of buckets that I use at the moment, but the largest dimensions appear to...

Anyone have a Kegland Kegerator - question regarding keg sizes

Like Alistair I've got the three tap. It works really well for me. 3 taps gives enough variety and the extra free space in the kegerator allows you to carb up and chill down your next keg ready for a quick changeover when needed. In fact most of the time I just have two taps on the go and leave...

Anyone have a Kegland Kegerator - question regarding keg sizes

I’ve got the Series X and it will fit either four of the newer taller thinner AEB kegs or the keg land kegs. I have both makes of keg.

Gas bottle shortage - may go all-in-one

Place where I get my CO2 from also does gas and I heard him on the phone to a punter who was trying to get a new bottle. Was told only exchange at the moment. You could change up or down in size but no 'newbies'.

    Headaches, shakes - hangover?

One thing I am definitely convinced about after restarting home brew a year ago, is that there is definitely less hangover experience from drinking my own beer than drinking commercial bottled stuff.

    Going for the Grainfather

I bought a Grainfather in January and went through exactly the same deliberations as you. One day I was going for a Brewzilla, next day Grainfather. Finally opted for a Grainfather and 13 brews in I have no regrets...... but I doubt I would have regretted the purchase of a Brewzilla either! The...

Quick qu on whirlpooling / hop stands using Grainfather and aeration paddle

My thoughts would be get it on the drill, get a good whirlpool going then leave for 30 minutes to let everything settle out. No point in keeping the drill going. I don't think that you will be improving the whirlpool rather you will be turning it into a blender! But I agree that it is all a bit...

    Grainfather Micro Pipework

Any idea what's the max you can fit in using the standard pipework and still do a mash?

    Grainfather Micro Pipework

Did a Theakston's Best Bitter last weekend. Fitting the top plate on the Grainfather G30 I found that the long pipework wouldn't adjust far enough down. Should have used the small pipework instead. I had to proceed without the top plate and all went fine, but I was annoyed with myself. 4.3% on...

Torrified wheat in witbier? Issues with conversion at high %?

Hi Mike, I looked at using raw wheat in a recipe but got a bit scared off by it. I couldn't find anywhere to buy it from pre-crushed and I wasn't sure if I needed a specific type/grade. Can you offer any advice?

Be aware that OB has an instinctive hatred of cold beer as he lives in a part of Cheshire which does not have access to electricity!

    Next homebrew investment

If you've got the fermenting fridge, then agree with most people's posts about choosing the kegs/kegerator option. This will give you something immediately back - less bottling, beer on draught, something to show your mates. Nothing wrong with buying the Brewzilla, but if you are comfortable...
