Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

Thanks for taking the time to explain that so concisely. I’ve ordered a few of Jg fittings from BKT and reducers from the Bay. If my beer engine setup is as successful as i hope, i might invest in another as I've space for another keg in the fridge. Currently cold crashing my wherry, It’ll be...

Woodfordes Nelson's Revenge & Kviek Yeast

Thats a kit i haven't done, but i’ve read some good reviews. If you like wherry but after something stronger Admirals is good, alternatively You could brew wherry short 20L instead of 23L. I’ve done all the woodforde kits, apart from Tinsel toes which i have in the garage to do. Most have...

Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

Yes just spotted this Kegland in line regulators Help needed at least I’m not the only one that’s had a right faff on. They don’t seem fit for purpose, when I bought I mentioned to seller I was after a Reg that I could set to 2-5 psi. I feel as tho I’ve been mis-sold.

Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

I’ve got demand valve and engine working well, just need to crack the Co2 to keep a blanket of Co2 on the beer, ideally I’d like at least a month from the keg. I think £20 quid is a small price to pay for cask style ale at home. Here is a pic of my beer engine setup a bit crude but it’ll do for...

Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/john-guest-3-8-to-1-4-bsp-pi011212s/ Is it this one? Can you post a link to the connector needed to 3/8 pipe to the propane regulator. I spotted 2 very similar jg fittings one has a long thread and other has a shorter thread with a rubber seal on the...

    Woodfords wherry.

I did a Wherry kit earlier this Year that i dry hopped with Ekg on day 10. Corny kegged it Day 14, after a week in the corny it was great, it didn’t last long. Tonight i’m doing another wherry kit, this time i’ve added 25g of ekg to a muslin bag which I added to several litres of boiling water...

Woodfordes Nelson's Revenge & Kviek Yeast

I know very little about kveik yeast and i’m not the most experienced brewer but air lock activity Isn’t always best method of judging a fermentation. I would give it another week then keg or bottle, If the gravity reads the same two days running. Increasing the temp can restart a fermentation...

Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

Thanks for the comprehensive answers regarding beer engines and corny kegs. I did briefly consider going down the route of beer in a-bag or polypin however the thought of having to burp the bags during priming when they begin to expand put me off. However there’s great brewery nearby Consett ale...

Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

Thanks for the very helpful reply’s. I’ve Just poured a bottle of Golden stag into a jug to knock the Co2 out then pulled it thru a the beer engine. Amazing mouthfeel, creamy head head and great lacing on the glass, that’s exactly what I’m after from my setup. Far superior to the Stag from my...

Carbonating / priming Ale in a corny keg for a Beer engine.

Just acquired a cheap beer engine off FB, i plan on making a Malt extract kit such as wherry and serving through a Beer engine. Whats the best way of priming / carbonating the corny keg without over Carbonating as i don’t want a glass Of foam which can be problem. I’m not in rush to condition as...

Hot steeping grains & simply pale ale kit.

Thanks, just been on the Crossmyloof website i’ve ordered 500g caramalt and 50g cascade. wasn’t sure if to go for crystal light or caramalt as both seem similar, any idea how malt much i should use for the steep? Or how much cascade to dry hop with? I’ve previously only used Ekg.

Hot steeping grains & simply pale ale kit.

Would like to try hot steeping grains and adding to simply pale ale kit then dry hopping, I’ve only previously made extract kits. Any advice much appreciated on the best grain to use, would like to keep it nice and light in colour if poss, i gather there Is a few light steeping varieties but...

    Woodfords Wherry Pimp or Not

Just pimped this with a dry hop. Started this for the 3rd time 3 weeks ago. After 10 days ferment i dry hopped this with 25g Ekg. Then transferred to corny keg a week ago, previously only bottled it. Look forward to trying it tonight, its great as intended, but find it a bit sweet after half...

    Simply pale Ale with Ekg.

Of all the bottled kits in the garage Wherry, Nog, Nelson bitter, St. Peter’s Golden Ale etc. I’m really enjoying this cheap kit with EKG.

    Simply pale Ale with Ekg.

This a kit I made a few several months ago. I’m enjoying a few bottles now, so I thought I’d leave a review. Pitched yeast 28/6/20. Using 1kg of Muntons brew enhancer. Og1045. Brewed to 21litres. After 10 days I halved the wort transferring it to 2nd Fv and added 25g Ekg to one of the Fv’s...

    Woodforde Nelsons Bitter.

We must have posted at exactly same time.. 😃 AR sounds right up my street, I look forward to drinking it. 🍺

    Woodforde Nelsons Bitter.

I can’t comment flavour wise ( I’ve yet to brew, it’s waiting patiently in garage) but Admirals reserve is stronger. At 5.5% vs 4.5 with Wherry. Also Wherry is brewed to 23 litres vs 18 litres with AR.

    Woodforde Nelsons Bitter.

That was my reaction too! When i tasted Wherry for the first time (my 1st kit ) i was grinning ear to ear.. Friends that i’ve given bottles like it too, even the Mrs. Woodforde make some great kits. Just enjoying a pint of woodforde Nog, 4 weeks in bottle and its coming on nicely!
