    Digging Deep into Water Treatment

I RO my water but am now wondering if the flow rate is too high to get rid of any Chloramine if it has been added. I think I may add half a Campden tablet in addition to filtering for the next brew just in case. To me I can always pick up something in the taste, no one else has ever said...

    Am I being unreasonable?

Lol that made me smile - just a coincidence of name and initials I'm afraid . ;)

    Am I being unreasonable?

On the up side I had an early sample of my Vanilla Oatmeal stout that I brewed a couple of week ago and bottled for Xmas - WOW. A chocolate and vanilla bomb - I suspect these flavors will mellow but this could be the best beer I have brewed to date,

    Am I being unreasonable?

Sent it in the post today. I feel slightly bad as I know that most traders have such small overheads but with a second look I suspect that these are cracks that could spread with use.

    Am I being unreasonable?

    I'm too tight for that

    Am I being unreasonable?

Similar design but not quite as expensive as them. Just looking at replacing it with an Anvil.

    Am I being unreasonable?

I have and they are refunding which is great but after the conversation I felt as if I was being a little pedantic.

    Am I being unreasonable?

Hello all, I recently purchased a stainless steel fermenter which I have used perhaps half a dozen times - I'll leave the supplier out of it for now. As I was cleaning it after the last brew day I noticed what I thought was a black scum mark near the bottom. Upon close inspection I...

    Overworking my yeast?

    I'll check that out, thanks.

    First go at a NEIPA

Thanks for advice - vma. I think I have enough to go on now but I'll cut back on my batch to limit wastage if things do not go well. I am mindful that I am bottling and not kegging.

    Overworking my yeast?

So with the batch size I try to do which is 23 liters I am on the very upper limit even though most other factors would be OK - cannot guarantee the age of the yeast though until I receive it. I'll start having a look at making a starter - banggood has a magnetic stirrer for under £20. Update...

    Overworking my yeast?

Hello all, This has probably been asked before but I could not find a post on it. From most I can see liquid yeast is OK up to 5 gallon of wort (18.9 liters). Am I straining my yeast to the point at which off flavors are likely with 23 liters of wort?

    First go at a NEIPA

So tackling the water profile first if I may with some further tinkering - now with additions which I forgot to write down. To be clear the first figures below are my actual water profile so the sulfate will need bringing up but I am concerned about the calcium level. Ca - 100, 191 Mg - 4, 12...

    First go at a NEIPA

Hello all, This will be my first recipe post and also my first go at a NEIPA so please critique as necessary. This will be a 23 litre bottle batch of beer using a full volume BIAB. The recipe itself is from beercraftr.com which I have adjusted for the batch size and method. Water Profile...

    Batch priming, do i stir?

When I started home brew I put sugar solution individually into each bottle - never again! I now make a sugar solution like many people fo here by boiling up sugar with a small amount of water. I then add it to the bottling bucket as the siphon starts, the hose having been placed to create a...

    More Advanced Water Treatment

With some adjustment I get the outcome below - when should I get concerned about the calcium level? (As my water report does not have magnesium in it I have taken an average from my surrounding area)

Thanks Hoddy. The problem is that I am a perfectionist and I found myself concerned with tweaking the numbers to achieve perfection.
