    Pinter for all grain…

I've been using mine regularly, put 5 litres of wort in the Pinter and the rest in my normal fermenter. Pinter results are excellent, grain to glass in a week. Don't put the hops in loose like I did last time, even though I cold crashed they still blocked the tap.

    Pressure fermenter cleaning

Thanks all just to let you know I used chemclean, shook it about for 5 minutes and all the crud came off, spotless.

Sort of Stuck Mash and Burnt Brewmonk!

The best way to remove burnt bottoms in all in one systems is to mix citric acid crystals at a rate of 70g to 500ml water. Boil the water and dissolve the crystals. 500ml of water is just enough to cover the bottom in my system, you only need enough just to cover it. Leave for 12 hours then use...

    Pressure fermenter cleaning

No problem, I have some enzybrew and sodium percarbonate, plus some PBW. I’ll try diving it a good shake first

    Pressure fermenter cleaning

Hi, I recently purchased some kegland chubby 30L fermenters from MM. I’m currently serving my first brew using one. I added the dry hops shortly after high krausen, cold crashed and then started to server from my kegerator. Excellent beer, but interested in how you clean the fermenters ? I can’t...

    Which spunding valve?

That explains why I have to fiddle with the valves to get 10 PSI when I swap between my plastic fermenters and my mini kegs

    Which spunding valve?

I’ve got a couple of spundy’s and one of the kegland’s, the spundy is far smaller but in terms of their performance there’s no real difference. You do have to fiddle with them for the first 2 - 3 days to get the right PSI to settle. I’m brewing IPAs mainly and go for 10 PSI which also happens...

    Easy clean / Chemsan etc

I use an identical process 👍 sodium percab to clean and starsan to sanitize.

    Easy clean / Chemsan etc

I use distilled water mixed with starsan and reuse the sanitizer time and time again. I occasionally check it with PH Strips to make sure it’s still effective. I have a bottle of starsan that’s only half empty, it’s seven years old.

    Daft question about fermentation

I use plastic fermenters with an airlock. When the wort is transferred and the lid goes on, for the air that is trapped in the headspace - does it get pushed out of the airlock by the CO2 the yeast creates, or does it get absorbed into the wort and get used by the yeast, or maybe a bit of both?

    Pinter for all grain…

After watching the MM video I bought a new gen 3 Pinter, plus 20 pints of their beer for £79, the trub removal and making a beer that hasn't come into contact with oxygen on the cold side really appeals. When I brew on my AIO system I can stick 5 litres in the Pinter and some hops like MM did...

    Pinter for all grain…

Thanks my mini keg has the same lid as a corny so no problem removing a bag if needed.

    Pinter for all grain…

Interesting, I have a 6 litre minikeg collecting dust in the garage too. Might get a spunding valve and give it a go to, the Pinter arrives tomorrow, it had a big discount ! With the minikeg I assume i'll need a little hop sock if I want to put some dry hops in at the beginning of fermentation?

    Pinter for all grain…

Afternoon folks, Just watched a YouTube video from MM. They brewed an all grain recipe using a Pinter. What interested me was the way the Pinter has been designed. Wort (plus dry hops if you wish) and yeast are added to the fermenter, the lid is shut until fermentation completes. Beer carbonates...

    IPA using Voss ?

I fermented at 35C. it was finished in four days, the orange taste was a bit overpowering though. Not used it since.

Anyone got suggestions to stalled fermentation problems before i go insane

I would use an ABV calculator like Brewersfriend to see what the attenuation is, if it’s close to what to expect for the yeast then it’s probably fine. I had a similar situation a few brews back, first time I made a Russian imperial stout, OG was 1.080, mashed at 65°c, I used a west coast IPA...
