    Good Red Kits

The winexpert website has a section about all their replacement kits. You select the kit you used to use and it tells you what the new range is. That’s where I found out that The new range is 50 percent more. Unfortunately I don’t know of any good kit review sites. That is what I came here for...

    Good Red Kits

I hope double posting is allowed, sorry if not! just wanted to put my recommendation of the Selection kits into perspective. They produce wine which is many times better than table wine, so if a £40 kit produces table wine quality, then £80 for Winexpert selection series is extremely good value...

    Good Red Kits

Hi I have been making wine on and off for about 30 years and the most recent red kits I made were the Winexpert Selection International series Barolo. I have never tasted a better wine at any price. Made or bought. At less than £3 a bottle it’s ridiculously cheap. I have bought £30 Barolo at a...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Hi I have had a gallon of RGJ and apple on the go, I am at the degassing stage. I have vigorously shook the demijohn a few times, stirred it with a coat hanger on a drill a couple of times and it still tastes mildly gassy. So, this morning, I emptied it into a bucket and power stirred it...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

So..... I just read the first 10 or so pages of this thread where most of the recipes are, and I'm still not sure what I should make next. I have 2 litres of Lidl red grape juice. I have already made a gallon of RGJ/Apple, so I want to try something else with the RGJ, in the absence of any...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

I was in tesco today and saw that they do cawston press 100% apple and elderflower, and also Apple and rhubarb. I was wondering if anyone had used either of these to make wine with? I used to love elderflower wine, so I am thinking of using that one, either with a red grape juice for a rose...

    Wine batch photos

I usually design my own labels using photoshop. That's what I did is time, as the kit didn't come with any labels. The last 5 gallon kit did so I used those but I quite like making my own labels anyway. You don't need photoshop, you could just as easily do it with a free paint or graphics...

    Wine batch photos

LOL! That's what you call homebrew, right?! I don't think I'll bother with the caps for a cheap gallon of WOW variant, but labels cost next to nothing, and helps to identify things if you have several batches for drinking. The bottles in your bottom photo look great, Roddy, just need nice...

    Wine batch photos

I was looking for a thread where people post photos of their newly bottled wine, as I think it is nice to show off your creations to like minded people, especially if you have added nice labels, caps, etc. I always like to spend the extra few pence per bottle to make them look good, and when...

    Grape Juice for WOW

Lidl doing cartons of premium red grape juice for 9p at the moment. It is not chilled, so you can buy a lot and keep it for future use. Andy

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Just thought I would add an update on the hunt for grape juice. Someone mentioned a week or so Avon, I am sure, that lidl had white grape juice. I went in yesterday and my local store had not white, but premium red grape juice for 99p. It's not chilled either so you can buy loads and keep it...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Just adding my 2p worth to the 'grape juice or not' debate, I see no reason why you should not be able to make a perfectly good wine that doesn't include any grape juice, after all i and I am sure many others on here have made lovely wine out of stuff you pick from the hedgerows, in the past...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Hi folks I have a demijohn of Rgj and apple (rose) on the go, I started it on the 2nd Nov. It is still fermenting slowly, I checked the gravity today and it's at 0.984 - 0.986. This seems quite low to me, I am used to fermenting stopping at 0.99 something, although this is the first time I...

Makers of these 'juice drinks' rely on people not realising that anything with the word 'drink' in the name is roughly 50% added water, and less than 50% juice! Andy

    Wilko homebrew 20% off

Hi all I popped in to my local wilko today to get some ingredients for my first WOW variant, and a lot of their homebrew stuff is 20% off. This includes ingredients and accessories. I don't think it covered kits though, but I could be mistaken. 75% off Halloween stuff as well! got some...

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Hi all. If you look at wine kits, they don't usually come with campden tablets, and my most recent kit tells you only to add one if you are going to keep the wine for more than 6 months. So in that respect, it is being used as a preservative. It is different from a stabiliser, even though...

    Help! Wine hasn't cleared.

Oh, that's a disappointment about the pear. Are there any other varieties with pear juice that work? I know that welch do a white grape, apple and pear, although I am sure that's not 100 percent juice either. Andy
