    1st time kegging help

There are quite a few calculators online for this. MaltMiller have an easy to use one here According to this you are looking at around 7-8psi for an ale

    1st time kegging help

I would go a bit higher than 12psi for lager but really its all down to personal preference, the great thing about kegs is you can adjust the carbonation if you need. It is a bit easier to increase than decrease so better starting at a lower pressure and if you feel it is under carbed then add a...

    Electric cars.

I got my Kia Niro EV about 6 weeks ago. I dont have a home charger yet (selling house so not keen to spend £1k getting it fitted) but have free charging at work. So far done about 1500 miles and total cost £0. I make sure to charge to 100% on a Friday which so far has easily got me through the...

    Co2 prices

As you can see the price varies a lot. Since a bottle will probably last you at least a year you need to consider if it is worth any significant hassle/time to save yourself £10-£15. My local place is close to £40 a and I could get for about £25 elsewhere but that would involve 1hr each way to...

    Vegans

I am not vegan, I eat mostly plant based food but like a bit of venison, occasionally chicken and no intention to give up cheese. I see a lot of meat eater slagging vegans and find it pretty pathetic! Why get annoyed at them? it is their choice and is doing good for animal wellfare and the...

    July 2024 - Belgians

I have a leffe clone in kegs I can bottle at the weekend. I made a double batch and fermented them with different yeasts, tried one last night (slightly regretting it now Im at work!) and really liked it, will try the other batch Fri night. If its decent too I can send you a bottle of each.

25% off Malt and Hops at The Homebrew Company

Damn, so tempted but Im trying to reduce my stock as I dont have enough space as it is

    Re-bottling?

I would think this will work but you would still want to drink it all reasonably quickly as you wont be able to avoid getting any air in. I guess since it is high alcohol and not a hoppy beer I guess it should stay good for a month or 2, I might be wrong tho! If doing it I would chill all the...

    Shopliftting.

Going to start using the scan as you shop at Tesco for my shopping, keep it under 200 and walk away. Is there a limit how many times I can do it?

    Pressure transfer mystery!

Sounds like the dip tube may be getting a kink and blocking flow. Do you have any spare? Could you cut it shorter?

    Pressure transfer mystery!

ok, strange as this would suggest no blockage in the FV dip tube. Try connecting liquid disconnect to the liquid out with just some open ended pipe into a jar. Be ready to disconnect it quickly if beer starts spraying out. If you dont get anything then try pushing the ball lock in with a small...

    Pressure transfer mystery!

Didnt work as in no CO2 went into the FV or that it didnt solve the issue? If no CO2 going in then it is definitely a blockage. Is the fermzilla definitely pressurised? If you squeeze it is it solid?

    Pressure transfer mystery!

Try blasting a small amount of CO2 down the liquid disconnect of the FV, this will remove any blockage. Obviously the pressure of the CO2 you add will need to be higher than the pressure the FV is set to so that CO2 can flow down.

    No rinse sanitiser re use

I use a spray bottle for most things. For kegs I keep one keg filled with starsan and whenever another keg is empty and cleaned I transfer the starsan to the clean one using CO2 so the keg is fully purged and ready to go. I occassionally empty the starsan and refill with new but dont track it...

Keg or bottle my 1st Stout

That's 71% apparent attenuation which is likely it finished, I often finish slightly higher than brewfather predicts because it uses the max attenuation of the yeast to predict FG. what yeast did you use? Did you make a starter, use 2 packs etc? I would think it should be completely fine to...

ANGEL HOMEBREW - KegLand 20L Oxebar PET Keg and Pressure Fermenter Tank. Also 4L & 8L Kegs

Just realised this is exactly what Ive been looking for! I have a lot of corny kegs and am very slack about cleaning the lines in my keezer as its always a faff. 4L PET keg filled with line cleaner and pressurised up will make it a breeze... might buy 2 and have 1 filled with starsan to purge...

    Inline water filter

I have a berkey water filter in the kitchen for drinking/cooking water (fantastic filters, expensive to buy but last years). As I have replaced the filters a couple of times I now use the old filters inside a 30L plastic fermenter bucket with holes drilled in the base, sitting ontop my 30L...

    Anyone built their own foeder

I am still using it, first beer came out well, if a little sour and topped it up again with another wort. Probably keg this one soon so it doesnt end up quite as sour as the last one. V2 is on hold due to lack of space, hoping to move house soon and one of the requirements is a dedicated brew...

Using CO2 in bottling from a bucket fermenter

No, the "CO2 blanket" is a myth, gases all mix together, even with different densities. If they were in a completely sealed and constant temperature vessel they will eventually partially settle out but even a slight movement would mix them together again. Here is a decent explanation
