    Foam insulation board fermenting box

Hi, I have a spare sheet of foam insulation board from some building work and was planning to make a box to use when brewing in the shed during the winter, combined with an Electrim heat tray and Inkbird temperate controller to switch the heater on/off. The temperature probe would just be taped...

    Bottling equipment advice

Thanks everyone. I think I'll probably invest in/source some coloured swing top glass bottles. I've also found them at a pretty good price from https://www.world-of-bottles.co.uk/Glass-bottles/Glass-bottles/500ml-glass-bottles/500ml-brown-beer-bottle-master-brewer.html . Even with shipping they...

    Bottling equipment advice

OK great, sounds like a second bucket is the way to go, thanks. Just one other question. What bottles do people recommend? I'd quite like brown glass flip top ones, but they seem pretty pricey compared to the plastic (or even clear class) ones. Someone told me flip tops are better because they...

    Bottling equipment advice

Hi, I have one of these kits *****************************/catalogue/starter-kit/beer/real-ale/micro-brewery-youngs-ipa-system-116-detail and have already brewed the beer the came with it using the barrel. For my next brew I'm planning to bottle it instead, and could do with a little bit...

    Secondary fermentation temperature

Great, thanks everybody! I barreled it on Tuesday and the top of the barrel has now deformed slightly and has a bit of a dome shape to it, which suggests the pressure is building up. I assume (hope) this is normal? One other question, there's not really much risk of the pressure going too high...

    Secondary fermentation temperature

Hi Everyone, Just moved my first brew into a pressure barrel, and have a couple of questions. The instructions for my kit were very specific about the temperature during primary fermentation (20-24°C), but once in the barrel all it says is keep it in a "warm place" for two weeks and...

Steriliser question (possibly made a mistake)

Thanks everyone. The steriliser instructions do say to rinse everything after, but perhaps that's just to be extra sure. So worst case scenario, if it does do anything, it might just give the beer a funny taste or something? Such a small quantity of the chemicals isn't going to be bad for you...

Steriliser question (possibly made a mistake)

Hi Everyone, I'm new here and just started my very first home brew yesterday, using a kit from Youngs. I followed all the instructions and it went well (I hope), however I woke up this morning with the thought that I might have made a mistake. And I have no idea whether it's a serious...
