    Fibre to the property

Final post.... If you want to find your true WiFi speeds around the house (and over powerline adapters etc.) you can run a local speed test server: https://openspeedtest.com/?ref=logo Do this on a laptop or other computer connected directly to your router. Then connect with various devices...

    Fibre to the property

I have the same NAS currently running two 16TB drives in RAID1 (so 16TB of available storage). When funds allow I'll add another drive and switch to RAID5 to get 32TB of storage. It's a great device! My biggest regret when having our house remodelled was to not run Ethernet cables into all the...

    Fibre to the property

Your list doesn't include 802.11AX (WiFi 6/6E) or 802.11BE (WiFi 7). Both a significant speed improvement on 802.11AC (WiFi 5). If I was getting a fibre connection I'd consider a WiFi 6 system to be a minimum requirement to support the speeds offered by the fibre connection. Personally I have a...

    Muntons Flagship Hazy IPA

I can't quite remember if I've made this kit once or twice but either way I remember it was excellent and so much so I have another one waiting to be brewed. My take on hoppy beers, such as this, is that they need to be drunk fresh. I put my beer in corny kegs and with this I'll usually start...

    Fibre to the property

I moved to BeFibre about 18 months ago. Previously had FTTC with Vodafone but we were in a bit of a black spot for that so got about 25Mbps at best. I'm on a 720Mbps package with BeFibre and it's so much faster. Unfortunately the router they supply isn't great so I swapped that out for my own...

Found some old kits... I trust they are brewable?

I've done out of date kits before, never done anything different except replace the yeast. Any decent ale yeast will do, Fermentis Safale S-04 has always been my go to. I've learnt the lesson about out of date yeasts in the past, either they just don't start or at best the initial fermentation...

    Snow??

Some in Worcester, enough to excite the kids & cover the garden but not so much as to cause any disruption. Annoyingly it's the one day I can't WFH this week as I'm interviewing someone later but made it to Tewkesbury no bother. Still snowing ❄️ I have a theory... As the chancellor has done...

What lager kit to brew at 14-15 Centigrade?

You can use any lager kit, generally the more expensive the better the end result. However a lot of them come with ale yeasts for fermenting around 20°C but you can just substitute that for good Pilsner / Lager yeast and follow the lagering process.

    Christmas music (you hate)

Anything by Mariah Carey, not just Christmas songs, anything 😁 Celine Dion can do one as well 🤣

    Festival Belgian Dubbel 'Kriek'

If nothing else you selected a good starting point, I made that Festival Belgian Dubbel a few years back and it was lovely. Best Belgian style beer I've brewed.

    Taxi

I'd probably have more faith in this getting me to my destination in one piece than most of the mini cab / Uber drivers round our way 😁

How much sugar is there going to be in a wine that has fermented to 0.990

Whilst it will be low in sugar there will still be some residual unfermentable sugars and therefore carbohydrate. Wine is one of the better drinks though for a low carb diet though spirits are the best. You're typically looking at around 2.5% carbs in a white wine, maybe a bit less if its a...

Brewing from out of date beer kits

I've made the odd out of date one before now. Always swap out the yeast, I tried one once with the out of date yeast and it didn't get going. Yeast really does deteriorate on the shelf, it may be better if you'd kept it refrigerated since buying the kit but it seems unlikely. Even if it gets...

    Lidl Festbier

The North Worcester one on the Droitwich Road (A38). Quite a few there when I got one on Saturday but I haven't been in since.

    New kit from Festival

I've got one of these ready to brew. Got a bit slack on brewing generally but must get it on soon.

    Lidl Festbier

Picked one up at the weekend, they had quite a few in my local Lidl. Got next week off for half term so I'll work my way through them then 😊 Thanks for the tip off OP 🍻

Who would be the best manager for England?

Tuchel has been pretty much confirmed now so may as well get behind him..... Until he's lost a few games anyway 😁

    Spiced cider

Made something loosely based on this recipe a few years back: https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/spicy-blackcurrant-cider-christmas-special.56474/ Think I might have dialled back on the cloves a bit as it can make it taste a bit medicinal otherwise. I also had a bottle of caramel...

Man Cave, who has one ?

Alas no, not in the current house. There isn't really any room for one unless I converted my garage which is my current brew space anyway but also contains many bikes, DIY clobber, fishing gear and probably a lot of other stuff I don't really need. 'Er indoors did suggest I could build a...

    Octopus energy

Wow, first time I've heard about that. Might make charging your Tesla interesting, most EV chargers are 30A, doesn't leave much overhead. Add an air source heat pump to that...
