Oh I managed to sort mine out, all I did was file down the left and right sides of it to make it big enough for the ball valve tap, no drilling just a hand file which worked really well. It wasn't a perfect circle so admitted there was a bit of leaking at first but I managed to counter this...

Haha! That's the outer dimensions but I asked a couple sources and it turns out that the GL349 which is the model you want (not the CC193) has an internal diameter of 33.5cm which is all good, all I need now is a custom made false bottom which is looking at £52.50, ouch!

Was the tap easy to remove? Was it possible to unscrew or had it been welded in? Also, whats the internal diameter? Thank yoooou.

EDIT: the GL349 (which is the one you want) has an internal diameter of 33.5cm which means its good for 5-10kg mashes (I think)

Hey do you know the internal dimensions of the 40 litre Buffalo, notably the internal diameter, I was thinking of using one for a mash tun.

Have you ever tried it without a mash bag? I was thinking of getting one to use as a mash tun but I'm not sure if it would work or not.

EDIT: Well i imaged to figure it out and it is the Buffalo GL349 (which i ordered from Cater For for �£115) along with a weldless ball valve tap kit (�£30) and what looks like will have to be a home made made 33.5cm false bottom with a stand and handle (�roughly £40).
