    Bottling/Kegging from Stainless Conical Fermenter?

Hey all, I had been using the Catalyst fermenter for the last few years. With the transparent tank, liked that I could see how clear the beer was and whether the yeast was settled before bottling and kegging. I've recently moved to a Brewdevil conical fermenter, and have found my last two brews...

How to seal thermowell on SS fermentor?

Thanks all! I've got some dowty seals on order, and will look to get some flat silicone ring/gaskets too to try various combinations. Beercat - in what order did you assemble the seals and washers? I presume it was nut-washer-gasket-wall-gasket-washer-nut?

How to seal thermowell on SS fermentor?

This is the drill bits I used - two-flute as you guessed! Took me ages to file away the burrs. The thermowell came with a large metal washer but I've set this aside as there was very little thread to attach the nut. A dowty seal could be just the ticket - do you know what type I need to avoid...

How to seal thermowell on SS fermentor?

I treated myself to one of these https://www.angelhomebrew.co.uk/en/brewdevil-ss-conical/391-1461-30l-brewdevil-ss-conical-fermenter.html#/83-cooling_option-none stainless fermentors from Angel Homebrew, and decided I wanted a thermowell in it to put the temp sensor from my temp controller. It...

    Which fermenter (pref stainless)?

Evening! I've been using one of those Catalyst fermenters for the last couple of years, and it's worked fairly well. I really like the fact that it can be dumped in the dishwasher for cleaning, but am getting a bit annoyed with the lack of headspace and the tendency for the lid gasket to harbor...

    Mangrove's M54 Yeast at 10C?

Cheers guys, I figured it might be one of those two options. It will wake up won't it, once the temp is raised?

    Mangrove's M54 Yeast at 10C?

Hi All, I brewed up a Premium Pilsner kit from HBC yesterday. The kit came with 2 packs of Mangrove Jack's M54 yeast, which say to ferment between 18-20C. However, the instructions that came with the kit say to ferment at 10C. I've had it sitting in the kegerator at 11C for 24 hours, and...

    Fermenters and fermentation fridges!

Cheers all. I'd seen those fast Ferment conicals and quite like the idea, but surely if it's plastic it still has the same drawbacks as plastic buckets? I hadn't actually considered the glass carboy. I'll definitely look into that option. It's the short, stubby probe on my Inkbird - I'll use...

    Fermenters and fermentation fridges!

Afternoon folks! I'm looking to get a bit more control over the fermentation of my BIAB brews. I'm currently fermenting in one of those £20 plastic tubs with sealing lid and airlock, and have been leaving it in the corner of the kitchen during the fermentation period. The temperature of the...

    Leaking mini kegs!

Nice one, thanks. I had thought about using some Vaseline but wasn't sure if it might contaminate the Precious. I'll give those things a shot.

    Leaking mini kegs!

Evening. I've been using mini kegs for my last few brews, but seem to have a continuous problem with beer escaping from somewhere at the bung/keg or bung/tap interface. It's only when I pull the lever to dispense beer - beer comes out the tap, but also starts filling up the top of the keg. I've...

    FG too high!

Well I added some dissolved sugar and moved it to somewhere a little warmer. It's been bubbling away a bit more, but has only dropped to 1.021. The enzymes arrived in the post today, but not sure if I'll add it or not, as it seems that once it's added it will just go on breaking down the non...

    FG too high!

Now you mention it, I did have some trouble keeping the mash at the right temperature. It dipped quite a bit twice during the mash, so I turned on the element to bring it back up to temperature. It ended up getting up to 73c I think due to a combination of the thermometer having quite a lag when...

    FG too high!

Thanks all. I've given it a good swish around, so will wait until the morning to see if there's any movement in the air lock, and if not will try a warmer place then sugar in that order. Does the yeast just lay dormant at the bottom of the fv, out dies it actually die off?

    FG too high!

Evening all! I'm a relative newbie to the BIAB (or any brewing for that matter), currently on my second batch. The first was an American Pale Ale that was finally ready for tasting earlier this week. It won't win any awards but it's definitely drinkable, and even had fizz, so I was quite...
