I used a 30l plastic bucket £6 from b&q then 2 kettles from tesco £10, used a ball valve tap also from b&q £7 and a 15mm tank connector £3 from ebay then a mesh bag from ebay was £6 so nothing expensive, now bottled and should be ready in 2 weeks
i went with a safale us-05, it seems to be working well, i can already see its looking a bit clearer already after just a few days, will be dry hopping it with 50gs of simcoe and maybe some of the citra i used but only about 20gs i think
finally gave biab a go after building my own kettle and wort chiller.
i managed to build my kettle for around £25 and my wort chiller was the easy part and only cost £27 for the pipe.
i went for a punk ipa but altered some of the hops as im not too keen on the current brewdog one as it is in...
Well thats mines already bubbling after a couple of hours, 2 tea bags used for 4 litres of pressed apple juice, 200g sugar and a handful of apple segments, looks brilliant already.
so you basically make a strong cup of tea and throw that in at the start too?
Is it a case of the stronger the tea the more tanning?

I think if I had relied purely on the instructions I wouldn't have found out how to correctly clean my equipment, how to syphon correctly or how to bottle the brews, it would be a disaster.
Well I sure as bell don't want exploding bottles lol, if I hadn't have come across this forum I'd never have known about this because the instructions mention nothing about it.
I have started my first brew which is a bitter kit, after spending a while watching numerous tutorials and reading posts on here I'm left wondering how much and which type of sugar to prime my bitter with before bottling and which method is best? Any help would be appreciated, I know a lot of...

Thanks for the tip, my nearest brew shop is a 45 min drive but it has a really good selection of stuff, still getting my head around the variety of brewing that can be done.
Hello brewing sages lol

Got the bug from my grandad who got fed up brewing so i got his old dj's etc and furnished myself with a load of stuff...
