Bulldog Four finger Jack American Pale ale.

Hello. Not done a brew for quite a while now. The last one I completely screwed up but not getting my sums right and adding too much sugar when bottling, so kind of put me off for a while. I've had brews that weren't all that but still managed to drink them but this was just undrinkable froth...

To stir or not to stir?

Cheers. That's what I wanted to hear really because that's what I'm gonna be doing. I would have changed my mind if I'd have got a few responses like 'For god's sake don't stir up the brew' etc... Thanks again beer lovers!!! :D :drunk:

To stir or not to stir?

Thanks for the replies people. I think I'm gonna stick with my method of racking into the bottling bucket on top of the sugar solution but with the addition of a gentle stir prior to bottling. I must say though that the 2 previous Barons brews that I've done (with the mixed results) have come...

To stir or not to stir?

Hello. I have recently knocked up a couple of Barons kits that I got on offer and about to bottle the third batch this weekend. In the instructions it tells you to stir in the priming sugar but I always thought you should add the sugar to the bottling bucket then siphon the batch on top...

    Wine making equipment for beginner

Thanks for response. Budget probably up to £50 for the equipment and £20-£30 for the kit. What are the differences between the different fermentation vessels? Is a glass demijohn better that a plastic vessel?

    Wine making equipment for beginner

Hello all, hoping you could help. I've been brewing beer for about a year now and the missus has caught the home brew bug and wants to start making some wine. After browsing the net for a while now I'm a little confused as to where to start. 6 Bottle kit or 30? Can anyone recommend a good...

    When homebrew goes wrong

I had a strange soapy taste from the 'Hammer of Thor' that I'd bottled. Brand new bottles, sanitized using bottle tree and spray adaptor, not quite sure what went wrong. The 'St Peters Ruby Red' I did come out perfect using the same method. I've got 2 Barons kits that I will be bottling soon and...

    Hello, i'd like your opinions!

Looks like a good website. Functions well and easy to navigate. My only problem would be that it doesn't say 'beer' to me. If I was to look at the website without reading any text I would not never have guessed it was a brewery website or anything to do with beer. It kinda looks like a kids game...

Will I be transferring the brew too much?

I have 2 FVs and am currently about to bottle a batch of St. Peter's Golden Ale. I have already moved the brew into the second FV and let settle for a week before bottling. My problem is I only have one bottling wand and tap and I stupidly put this on the second FV and so if I batch prime now...

    Festival - Pilgrims Hope

Looks good. I was looking at trying a Festival kit next, might give this a go. Let us know how it develops.

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

I really like this kit and will be getting a second one on the go soon. I brewed mine short and it came out at about 4.5%. I'm down to the last 10 bottles now so I'd better get going on that second batch. It's odd because I really kind of rushed this one. Sanitised everything properly as usual...

    Bulldog, Hammer of Thor

I think something may have gone wrong with my 'Thor' because it's been nearly 3 months in the bottles and still don't taste that good and hardly any fizz. You get the little fizz when you open a bottle but it's very flat when in the glass and still got a homebrewy tinge to it. A couple of them...

    Bulldog, Hammer of Thor

Yeah, Wherry went OK, been in barrel now for about 10 days. Stuck it in the garage with all my bottles. So I've got 30 or so bottles of 'Hammer of Thor', 30 odd bottles of 'St. Peters Ruby Red' and the 'Wherry' but it's really hard to not open a few. The 'Thor' has been in there the longest and...

    Bulldog, Hammer of Thor

Yeah, I've got the 'Wherry' to go next, still sitting in the box though. I will probably get that on the go tonight or tomorrow, I didn't have much time over the weekend. But I think I may have to concentrate on getting more lager style beers on the go, especially with summer approaching. I...

    Bulldog, Hammer of Thor

Hammer of Thor is gonna be good me thinks! Sampled a couple this weekend and they were well on the way to being a really nice pint. Already pretty clear after just over 3 weeks, little bit of fizz on opening, nice bit of froth and tasted quite good already. A bit "homebrewy" but I'm sure that...

Any advice on brewing 'Wherry' before I start?

Good replies people, thanks for the advice. Definitely gonna brew this short then and try a different yeast from the one packaged. See how it goes.

Any advice on brewing 'Wherry' before I start?

Hello all, I am about to start my forth brew. I've gone for 'Woodfordes Wherry', Wilkinsons £19.00. It seems like loads of people on here have made this and so I was wondering if there are any useful tips or methods to use or is it simply the case of following the instructions as I have done...

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

Finally got it racked to secondary after it settled at 1010. :D I'm well happy with that (If all my readings are correct) should come out at about 5%. Still looked liked there was a bit of action going on in there though, hope I haven't gone premature on this. Had another 'taster' and it tastes...

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

Been about a week now. Not much activity going on and it seems to have stabilised at 1012. I think I will check it again tonight and maybe move to a secondary. Looks like all is going to plan though. Gonna be hard to keep my hands off this lot when it's done.
