We've got lumps of it round the back.

Thanks Gents, I was going to drink it anyway but wanted your advice! It was in the FV for two weeks, the botts will be in the warm for two then cold for two, if I have the patience, so hopefully all will be good! 1, 2, 5. Three Sir!

We've got lumps of it round the back.

Hi All, I'm a complete novice at this, been doing a few two can kit beers now but when I was bottling my last effort (straight from FV into bottles) I noticed a few light brown lumps being drawn through the tap. The crust on top had a few of these and it appeared that there were some in...

OK to leave in FV for cool third week?

Thanks for replies bobsbeer and Will12283, I feel OK to now leave it in the FV for another week. Thanks for the advice about taking it off the trub, but haven't got a spare container at the moment. I really must invest in some more kit, although the Mrs is standing next to me with her arms...

OK to leave in FV for cool third week?

Hi all, I need to go away for a week and my FV has a kit bitter beer in it that I was going to bottle this weekend (after 14 days fermenting). The house will get quite cold, is it OK to leave the beer in the FV until I get back? Is there any difference in leaving it in the FV or in the bottle in...

    Have I killed Mr Yeast?

Thanks everyone for your calming words. 3 days later and I have a foamy top to my FV which I am delighted about! My missus thought I was mad as I was fiddling about in the cupboard with a torch to try and see if there had been any developments. I think my brewing cupboard is a bit cool for...

    Have I killed Mr Yeast?

Thanks all for replies, Sorry I wasn't clear in what I did (or didn't) - I forgot to add a little sugar when I was starting the yeast, I have added the 1Kg of brewing sugar to the FV. So it sounds like I may be OK. Thanks again for your replies, I will go to sleep cuddling my FV. Cheers, Gidds

    Have I killed Mr Yeast?

Oops, First kit brew on the go and as usual with me it is run then walk. I thought I'd be clever and give the yeast a head start by adding it to tepid water with some sugar and leaving it somewhere warm for an hour. Trouble is I forgot to add the sugar. Doh! 24 hours in and no sign of movement...

    Another Newby!

Hi All, Just posted to say hello. I have never brewed before so this will be a steep learning curve! Had a quick look at this website after starting my first brew and thought it looked friendly and helpful, so I have dived straight in. Apologies in advance for all the stupid questions, I think I...
