    barrel help

I have just barrelled some bitter and noticed this morning that there is a leak around the tap. Its not where the tap meets the barrel but where the tap itself slits in (if you know what I mean. I did put Vaseline around all the joints so don't know what to do. If I pop the tap out it will leak...

    advice

I've read through a lot of posts and the only thing Left to try is to add more yeast and stir in. I only have a packet that came with a Geordie larger kit so could try that I suppose?

    advice

If I keg it now with some priming sugar would it do any harm?

Took another reading today and still at 1020. Think this might be it.

The room is at between 19-22 degrees all the time. Is this ok?

    Wilko Strawberry wine

I've just put this in the shed to help clear. Is this ok or should I bring it in?

    My first pint

I think I will try batch priming next time. I used 2 muntons carb drops per 500ml bottle for this one and not really much going on in the way of fizz. I have also got a load of swing top bottle for next time so hoping that will help.

    My first pint

It's not as fizzy as I would have liked and the head does disappear quite quick but it tastes ok and is very clear already. Hoping the taste improves slightly over the coming weeks but all in all I'm over the moon with my first attempt.

    My first pint

Just thought I would post a pic of my first pint. It's a coopers canadian blonde and this is before it goes in the cold for a while. Had 2 weeks in the bottle in a warm room. Really pleased with it even though it's probably not ready yet...

    advice

    advice

I will do this tonight I think. I sanitised all my stuff last night so I could get a stout on the go so will do it again later and stir the bitter up. Should I put the spoon on the bottom and stir? Will it do any harm disturbing the deposit on the bottom?

    advice

I will be looking to keg this brew as I have a stout to do next which I want my bottles for. I will give it a stir and up the temp a bit for a few days and see what happens.

    advice

Thanks Spapro. I work the alcohol content to approx 3.8 % so will try what you have suggested so I can maybe get it a bit higher.

    advice

Had this on since the 25/10 and the sg was approx 1050(hard to tell coz of the foam) checked over the last 2 days and showin as1020 on both days. Should I expect this to be lower? I only ask because I added 1kg brew enhancer and 500gr med dry malt so was expecting a lower reading.

    Bottles

Can someone tell me if it's ok to put wine in swing top bottles? I have a wilko strawberry wine that is in the clearing process and I don't have any wine bottles or corks/corker. I do have a load of 750ml swing tops tho both clear and brown.
