    Can anybody advise how much priming sugar I should use for 20l coopers stout. Going to bottle this and was thinking about 80gr-100gr but not sure. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Just thought I would put a pic up of a taster out of this barrel. It's been in the cold for a few days now since I have fixed the leaking. Looking good but not much carbonation which is ok as it's a bitter and don't like bitter too fizzy

    Bottles

    I've got a coopers stout in the fv at the minute and I want to bottle it. Problem is I only have 750ml swing tops. Are these too big? Not worried about priming as I'm going to batch prime when I transfer to the bottling bucket. Just seems like the bottles are a bit on the large side.

    Just checked the gravity and down to 1011. Tastes good and not too dissimilar to Guinness original. Can't really taste the treacle though.

    Sorry to resurrect an old thread but this dripping is still going on. Can I swap the tap back without damaging the beer? I can top up with co2 once I'm done. Had it in the warm for a week now so will be looking to put in the cold for while and want the tap sorted before I do.

    Checked on mine this morning and the foam has at some point tried to escape as there are marks on the inside of the fv id...Hasn't gone through the airlock though so happy about that. Seems to have died back a bit so now moved out of the bath into the from room. cant wait for this to be finished.

    Thanks chippy. I should be able to find a spot for it indoors. The kitchen is quite cool so can go in there. How long will they keep in the swing tops? Don't have a corker so couldn't go down that route.

    Once this is bottled(in swing top bottles) how should it be stored? In the shed or just in the house at room temp?

    Just put this on using 1kg brew enhancer, 500gr dark muscavado sugar and half a tin of black treacle brewed to 20l. Dont know if above amounts are ok but Smells amazing so can't wait till it's ready.

    Already tried that mate and made no difference. Will give it another try but don't think it will work.

    Thanks for the roasting tray tip will give that a go. I've swapped the tap for the little bottler tap but managed to get some O rings from wilko so should be able to fix the original tap.

    Well it's dripping again. Not as bad but it's still not right. Going to have to see where I can get I rings from to fix the original tap.

    Well I found the problem. One of the little o rings on the spiggot was split. I've swapped it out for the little bottler tap so will see how that works but looking good.

    Is It safe to change while it's fill of beer? Got the missus to give a hand holding the barrel flat so don't need to worry about that but is it worth risking it and ruining the beer?

    Will the tap that came with the little bottler fit my barrel? It's the wilko pressure barrel.

    Well I've just laid it on it's back and opened the tap. I was surprised how much gas came out. Smeared more Vaseline around the o ring in the tap and put it back. It's not dripping now but will the pressure build up again or should I top up through the valve?

    I only barrelled it last night with 80g priming sugar so not expecting it to be under tremendous pressure just yet. If I do this is it wise to top up with co2 once I've finished?
