    Rye crystal malt alterntive anyone?

Don't know if you have seen this web page before even though it may not help out this time with what you need? https://www.brew.is/files/malt.html

    For fans of Adnams

I have done the tour a couple of times when I have been to Southwold. I've nothing to compare it to as I haven't been on a tour elsewhere but thought it was ok. I too took a picture of that blackboard for reference but it doesn't give too much away for some of the recipes! I managed to get my...

    Brett IPA

I'll take you up on that offer. I can then at least see what I might have been able to create. In terms of what you'd like from me id say go for the 60 minute IPA which is a Greg Hughes recipe. The Mandarine Bavaria is a SMaSH that I created, but could probably do with being a bit punchier. Ive...

    What are you drinking tonight?

It was my birthday recently and was given these. White Ale - has orange peel and coriander added which I couldn't really taste. Probably the lightest colour beer I've seen. Very delicate beer. Toasted Porter - Very heavy strong toasted aroma. It has some real body and feels as if you could...

    Brett IPA

I believe it is a Brett blend. If that's the case then that's one way of putting me off Brett beer brewing after the time, money and effort put into it!!! Ironically I'm brewing a sour beer at the moment!

    Brett IPA

Yeast I used was: Yeast Bay Wlp 4637 - Amalgamation - Brett Super Blend Full recipe on the first post.

    Brett IPA

Bottled 32 x 500ml of this last night. FG was 1.004 Quite milky in colour although not bothered about it being clear. Final taste before bottling was very sour. Nothing like I have tasted before. Smelt better that it tasted! How long a conditioning period has anyone else waited for a Brett...

    Brett IPA

Dry hop went in a couple of days ago. The surface of the wort looked like I haven't seen before on something I have brewed. Is it possibly the white surface infection thing I have seen discussed on the forum or just a feature of the Brett yeast or just absolutely fine?

    Bittering Hops

Got ya! I guess I didn't realise it had so much of an affect at the bittering end and at the end of the boil.

    Bittering Hops

I’m talking about the hops that go in at the beginning of the boil whatever the length. If I’m correct the hops at the beginning of the boil add no hoppy flavour or aroma just bittering flavour/taste. Is it purely about achieving a particular IBU with any hop? Can I just use any...

    Azacca Hops - Thoughts?

I've just put this hop on my shopping list today to a SMASH. I recently did a Mandarine Bavaria SMASH and used 100 grams in total. I didn't add any start of the boil hops and added hops from 15 mins plus a dry hop. I would have added more if I had them later on plus more for the dry hop. So as...

    Greg Hughes single hop recipes

I'm drinking the cascade one at the moment and it's a good recipe. I might add some more late hops but to be honest it's pretty good as it is! It is good to try out single hop recipes then you spot them in commercial or others beers that you have made. A good way yo adjust and play around with...

    Brett IPA

So a month on from this going into the FV its been a bit of a journey! After 10 days it had only dropped to 1.028 so the paranoia set in after using a vial that was past its BB date so as I had another vial of the same yeast and I decided to get that up to 18C roughly and pitched it straight...

    Extractor system advice

I too have a 20L BM and im also looking to vent the steam out of the kitchen as its dripping down the walls during the boil! Those beer coloured water marks aren't that attractive! I was planning on getting the SS hood and attaching 100mm flexible ducting hose and hanging it out of the window. I...

Hop substitutions or suggest me a recipe

I'm going to brew this again because I think it's worth it! I would be happy to increase the later hop additions. Maybe even drop or decrease the first hops which is probably against an IPA but maybe I'm just a rule breaker!!

Hop substitutions or suggest me a recipe

If you have the Greg Hughes book I have done the 60 minute IPA and I can recommend that highly!

    Brett IPA

I did this brew yesterday. My OG was 1.046 so 3 points short of target. Might have been due to the pump getting a little blocked with grain as some escaped when I had a bit of a fountain between the malt pipe and the sieves. Not quite sure why I had the fountain as its at least the 2nd time...
