Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

I found out that I can’t use Beersmith for my water profile and additions as CRS isn’t supported. Previous to knowing this I noticed that magnesium was in the setup in Beersmith but not on my water report so I contacted my supplier and they offered to send someone out to test it for me at home...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

As mentioned above I use Beersmith so would like to keep track of water profiles using the software, but there is currently no way of using CRS! So my sums are for 31 litres for a NEIPA style with a target of 20ppm..... I’ll be using 15 litres ashbeck so roughly 125 alkalinity. (Originally...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

So having now read through the whole thread I have realised the following..... My water report state Alkalinity mgHCO3/l 358 Hardness (total) mcCaCO3/l 383 Does this contradict what I have read on this thread to convert HCO3 to CaCO3 by 1.22? My Salifert result was 245 ppm but I will repeat...

A big thanks to @strange-steve for this guide. I’ve only read you first post but I’m going for it straight away! My water report states the following: 358 ppm alkalinity 153 ppm calcium 45 ppm chloride (mean) 71 ppm sulphate (mean) After using the Salifert KH/Alk & Ca kits I have the...

Imperial Yeast - forum member reviews.

I have some hoppy pale ales and IPAs planned. I see a few of them would be suitable so I’d take and review any that you’ll like to send me.

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Without reading the whole thread again..... I currently recommend on amazon prime Bosch which took no time at all to get to the 4th season. Also just started watching Start Up which is very good although the Martin Freeman character is a little wired alone with his America accent.

Has anyone put a ball valve on a Grainfather sparge heater?

I’m sure at the maltmiller on their brew days they have done this. Probably worth contacting them about the part they use and the process.

    Yeast Harvesting

Thanks. So basically I’m half way through the process. Shame I only have 1 spare jar! Usually when I make a starter I’m doing from a fresh liquid packet/vial. When it comes to making the starter from this do you think I need as much of the yeast layer as possible and as little as possible of the...

    Yeast Harvesting

This was my first attempt at harvesting yeast from an IPA using Vermont yeast after reading on hear and watching a few videos on youtube. I racked the beer off into another FV to do the dry hop and left a small amount of beer on top of the yeast and what appears to be a lot of hop debris. When...

    What are you drinking tonight.

Just had a clearance case from Beer Hawk delivered. 30 beers for £30. Yes quite a few of them are past their BB date but a great selection and only a couple of duplicates.

    Brewery tour advice.....

Im planning to buy my dad a brewery tour as a birthday present which true to form i have left last minute and is in a couple of days. I live just north of London so with good transport links in, London seems the best option. Does anyone have any experience of any tours they have been on? I have...

    Tettnang substitue

I have a recipe for a Dusseldorf Altbier and I have gone and forgotten to buy the 15 hop addition which is Tettnang. I have some Saaz so is that the obvious sub? Or does anyone have another suggestion as I have quite a few different hops stored in the freezer.
