    NEIPA brew/dry-hop advice

Hi Leon, This is the kit I used: https://www.brewstore.co.uk/4-5l-new-england-ipa-all-grain-beer-kit#product_tabs_additional_tabbed The the process was pretty standard (not sure how much detail I need to explain), but I'm sure where I went wrong was with the sparging. I didn't actually add...

    NEIPA brew/dry-hop advice

Hi folks, I've not long just tried my 2nd batch, which was a 1 gallon all-grain NEIPA...sadly nowhere near as nice as the first batch I did (which was an extract IPA brew). I noticed on the brew day that there was a LOT more excess sediment left over in the FV when I transferred it, I'm...

    Strainers for 5 gallon all-grain

Hi chaps! I have recently bought myself a new 20 litre electric kettle and I have up until now been using not-so-good bags to put the grains in when sparging, haven't had good experiences with it so far. I want to get a metal strainer I can put in/above the kettle that'll be a better solution...

NEIPA Brew day - Wrong colour?

Yeah, just put it next to the window to hopefully make the colour clearer to see. Back to the cupboard under the stairs it goes! Cheers!

NEIPA Brew day - Wrong colour?

Phew! Cheers, just thought it was murkier and darker, compared to what I was expecting anyway...

NEIPA Brew day - Wrong colour?

Afternoon everyone, So today I've brewed a NEIPA, my 2nd ever batch and the first time I've brewed all-grain. I've transferred the wort into the FV etc. but it just doesn't seem to look the right colour and I'm concerned that I've done something wrong, despite having followed the instructions...

    Learning the chemistry

Well, currently I'd just like to do anything really without suffering financially of course. I've seen a fair few brewery assistant positions going recently but haven't thought I'd be anywhere near that yet. I'm going to keep at the homebrewing as I enjoy it but for a bit I've wanted a change in...

    Learning the chemistry

Cheers. Yeah, I have contacted one brewery but haven't heard anything back as of yet so will go to other places offering my services and hopefully someone will come back to me. Just hope I don't ask stupid questions haha! Thanks again though for the brilliant advice!

    Learning the chemistry

Hi Hoddy, Thanks for your response - I've seen probably the same course from IBD and wondered if it'd perhaps be worth it. From what you've said, it's clear that it isn't for me at the moment, to say the least! It's good to hear from someone who has done it though. I'm gonna continue to brew...

    Learning the chemistry

Hi chaps, I was looking to start learning the in depth details of brewing, that would perhaps set me in good stead as I'm looking for a change in career at the moment, really looking to get into the brewing industry and follow my passion for great beer! I've been in contact with a brewery...

    5 gallon boilers/coolers

Thanks Minimag! Looks good, worth the extra bit of saving. Starting my next 1 gallon batch this weekend so perhaps by the end of that I'll look to get either this or similar acheers.

    5 gallon boilers/coolers

Cheers! Do you have any particular link to any ACE boilers you'd recommend or a website to look at by any chance?

    5 gallon boilers/coolers

Hi everyone! I was looking to brew a bigger batch than the usual 1 gallon batches that I've done/am doing so far, so am looking to get a bigger kettle, preferably one that heats itself as my electric hobs won't really do the trick...struggled getting my previous worts to boil and they were only...

    Grains and malt extracts

Thanks David. My first batch that I'm waiting on now was a mixture of extract and grains, but the addition of the extract just threw me a little really as I was questioning whether it was necessary for all types of brews. Anyway, with experience will come knowledge I guess. Thanks again!

    Grains and malt extracts

Cheers for this GerritT, that's useful - I'll definitely have a look into this!

    Grains and malt extracts

I'm still fairly new to the scene so you'll have to bear with me if this sounds daft... I'm really keen to get going with my own recipes, but am sticking to existing ones until I'm more familiar with the whole process, get my head around all the numbers and stuff like that - just seems like...

    Hello from Ben, Hereford!

I've posted once before on the forum on my first brew day last weekend but thought I'd take time to say hello! I'm completely brand new to homebrewing, up until I was 20 (I'm 22 now) I never liked beer...that's mainly as I'd only ever tried Fosters and assumed everything tasted the same! Was...
