    Thoughts on pewter tankards

Curious, for me it's Arran sweater, bushy beard, finger in ear folk singers.

    Heating Belts for FV's

I have my FV sat on a little mini pallet with a short tubular heater underneath it. I also use the cheapest heating belt I could find online. TBH, I'm not convinced the belt is contributing anything to the process. I also have to confess that I'm not a slave to temperature watching and have...

    Past its sell by date!

Please define "ill effects". Somewhere between a mild sense of well being all the way to the Black Death?

    Past its sell by date!

Funnily enough I went to the local re-cycling centre yesterday in search of some demi-johns. I found an unopened Boots home wine making starter set complete with 6 clear bottles, plastic stoppers, funnel, airlock, bung, syphon tube, demi-john and a can of "White Wine" with a BBE of 11/97 all...

    Hello from Elgin Moray

What a shame, judging by the photo, that's a pretty major source we're losing. And I didn't even realise it was there. I can even see the fermenting bucket I bought for £3 at Ghostbusters. I might nip through later and see what he's got left.

    Hello from Elgin Moray

Hi Johnny and CJV8. I'm also quite near you both, in Forres. Is that Ritchies Chemist you're talking about Johnny? I'd no idea about it's homebrew credentials until I found a brand new fermenting vessel with one of their price stickers on it in Forres Wastebusters. Not sure if you are aware...

what is the best beer you have ever tasted?

Rochefort 10 is my pick. I particularly enjoy it in a little bar call I'nt Klein Stadhuis next to the Cloth Hall in Ypres. Another one I've enjoyed is draught Gouden Carolus in 2Be in Bruges.

    Fry Up.

According to the Prof who did my hip replacement. Eating fat doesn't make you fat. Eating sugar is what does it. So now I just peel the batter of my Mars bar and eat that.

    Hello from Forres, Moray

Thanks all, I will look into this all grain method and see how it goes. I have to admit that the thought of exchanging bottles by post had never occured to me. One area of concern though would be the sediment. I've always treated it a bit like nitro-glycerine and tried my utmost to avoid...

    Hello from Forres, Moray

Hello and thanks for the welcome. I've had a look at the map and see that there's a member in the vicinity of Keith. That's about 25/30 miles from me. As you say Baron, there have definitely been a few changes during my brewing break. The 2020 lockdown is what inspired me to come back. I...

    Hello from Forres, Moray

Back brewing after about 25 year break. Mostly do dark beer and white wine kits but have also made cider, perry and plum wine from trees in the garden. I'd quite like to look into some "proper" brewing but there doesn't seem to be much of a scene up here and with postage costs it's a bit...
