FOR SALE new iSpindels fully build and tested £30

I don't ferment in a corny personally but I've read that plastic lids help Ball Lock Keg Lid - Used (homebrewing.org)

FOR SALE new iSpindels fully build and tested £30

I'd agree with that, I purchased the bits for 10 iSpindels and built them all. I've been using 4 without issues for several months now (well 3 and I'm keeping a spare). Hence selling the other 6. Payment will be by bank transfer, so far 3 sold pending payment to: Ezza Redgrave_3 Burtsbeets...

    Reverse Osmosis Equipment

Hi all, hope you're keeping well. I'm looking to purchase a reverse osmosis filter as I fancy the idea of starting from a 'blank' (and more importantly more consistent) slate. I'm in the UK and usually get my gear from the malt miller who offer this 5 stage filter for £165...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Cheers Steve, will give that a crack but I guess I'm not too far off... I brewed today with water treatment and aiming for a mash PH of 5.32 I recorded 5.41 which doesn't feel a million miles off for my first attempt. Will let you know how it turned out when it's done. Adjustments were made as...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

G Got the Salifert kits you recommend @strange-steve, thanks for what (I think) are idiot proof instructions. However talking of idiot proof... Is a Alkalinity of ~5ppm as CaCO3 believable? Carried out the test twice and both times it turned colour on the 3rd drop of reagent leaving the...

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Am I right in thinking I need more info to populate either Bru N Water or BrewFathers water profile? I've read until my brain hurts (WTF are so many different compounds expressed as CaCO3?) Anyway I seem to be missing Calcium and Bicarbonate and have tried to calculate these from what I have...

Popped my cherry, 1st explosive fermentation

I knocked a tap slightly open on a full 19l keg in the garage without knowing a few weeks ago... It slowly emptied the whole 19l onto the garage floor before I found it a couple of days later.

    Grain conditioning ruined my efficiency?

Just bought some feeler gauges to measure properly (used a card before). Turns out I was 1.0mm one side and 1.1mm the other. I assume this is much too big for conditioned grain. Have gapped it to 0.85mm, will give that a crack on the next one and report back. Shouln’t have tried something new...

    Grain conditioning ruined my efficiency?

It was more for to reduce slow/stuck mash than the boost in efficiency. It took maybe 5 minutes, really very little effort so thought I’d give it a go given the potential benefits

    Grain conditioning ruined my efficiency?

Hi all Fairly new to brewing but I’m now producing some consistent and good brews on my grainfather. However in my eternal quest to ‘improve’ my technique I seem to have tacken a couple of steps back. I have been consistently getting between 85% and 89% mash efficiency but decided to try a...

    Upgrading starter kit

Some way of controlling fermentation temps would probably give you the biggest improvement in beer quality and consistency if you’re brewing from kits

How to build a stir plate for less than ten quid

Yeah that’s the one. The case was surplus and works well. Sturdy enough to hold two 5l flasks. I had to strip out the inside padding to get the magnet close enough to the stir bar to atop it flying off at the speeds needed for larger liquid volumes.

    Wyeast splitting question

Thanks. Will the refrigerated yeast cake last longer than a jar of chilled starter? I guess I was to use ‘virgin’ yeast but how beneficial this is seems to differ depending on the source you read!
