    Small 12v Aquarium Pump idea

No but have thought about putting a sprinkler on the end which would do the same job :thumb: http://www.hozelock.com/our-products/watering/automatic-watering/classic-micro-irrigation/360-mini-sprinkler/

    Small 12v Aquarium Pump idea

It was a quick fit, I'm not great with electrics or plumbing. I had a very small drip that a couple of jubilee clips will fix and I suppose I could build a housing for the pump but it worked rather well and surprised Peco themselves haven't come up with a similar solution.

    Small 12v Aquarium Pump idea

There isn't much flow from my pump but it's great for recirculation. It may not be strong enough though to pump a lot of liquid though.

    Small 12v Aquarium Pump idea

Hi all, I bought a small aquarium pump from China a few months ago for less than a fiver and thought I'd give it a try for recirculating the wort. I'm currently brewing an Oatmeal Stout and I think it's working rather well. I have it connected to a 12v battery charger and I'm using the Peco...

    Biab to grainfather differences?

I don't own a Grainfather and it's maybe 2 years away (want to build a brew pub first) but I keep an eye on Grainfather threads as I will get one some day. This is interesting reading and maybe go somewhat to justify the costs: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=63155 Clear...

Nothing wrong with that... unless it's filled with Stella :) Is there an official Show Us Your Favourite Glass Thread?

Thinking of getting a vac pac?

I bought one of the Lidl machines and it's great even though I haven't used it for hops. I grow veg and I've stuff in my fridge from last week that's still fresh. I also made sushi rolls last night that would normally be binned that I'm eating now. I've done as you say and taking what I need and...

    Best Yeast For Dry Stout

I meant to put a stout on last weekend but was pushed for time so it will be this Saturday. It's going onto the trub of a Neales Ale Yeast so I'll be able to take notes how it goes. I've done a few stouts but always pitched them with S-04 and S-05. S-04 tends to work slightly better but I...

    Porridge Stout

I've used S-04 and S-05 in Stouts, my next brew is going on top of the trub of a Neales Ale Yeast I'm about to bottle. Both S-04 and S-05 worked well btw but I think it's the malts that shine through in a stout, not the bitterness or yeast.

    Radish in beer?

I was thinking just adding during the boil but I like the idea of dry hopping them. I've about 20 radishes ready for picking with more along the way in future.

    Radish in beer?

I've a glut of radishes about to be picked. I eat the odd one with a salad but I'm wondering would they work in a beer? I've Googled and there is commercial stout with radish which is ideal as I have the ingredients for an Oaty Stout about to go on. I'm thinking the slight heat of the radish...

    Porridge Stout

Yes, Pawlo's recipe is for 23, mine is more 19L. Just halve the ingredients and you'll have ballpark figures depending on what strength you want. Use a full packet of yeast though.

    Porridge Stout

Keep us posted on how this turns out. I done an oaty stout over a year ago and remember it was was one of my better brews. I didn't use the acidulated malt back then but I've used it in a few stouts since and it really does make a big difference. It will be interesting whether it works with the...

    Porridge Stout

3kg Maris Otter 1kg Flaked Barley (but may go out and buy some oats now I've seen your recipe) 500g Black Barley (I don't like the roasted flavours so won't be using the Roast Barley) 100g Acid Malt (consider it next time as it gives the beer a Guinness like twang) Same here with the hops...

    Porridge Stout

Oats go in as they are and amount sounds great, it's the same sort of stout I'll be doing tomorrow.

Out of date ingredients still usable?

Instead of binning the yeast, make a starter the day before by sterilising a jar and then boiling some water along with some DME or LME. Let it cool and then add the yeast. Shake it every couple of hours and you'll be good to go after 12 or so hours.

    Recipes - How To?

I use the Wort app for Android that comes with a style guide. Styles give a particular malt, hops, IBU ect. I never try and emulate anything, I just go for a guide. For my simple Lager at the weekend I used 4kg Irish Lager Malt, 50g Saaz 60 minutes 25g Saz 15 minutes 25g Saaz at 1 minute...
