    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Good to hear that it could still kick off. My little dwarf cherry tree has blossomed big time.

    BBC2 - Inside the Factory

Watched it and quite interesting - the grist they used just seemed to be the 'flour' and non of the husks. Would have thought that would just make a goo and hard to process.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Planted my new ones late last year but nothing showing yet - didn't expect much in the first year.

    David Heath Called out ?

Agree the cf is the usp for GF and looks good but +£2-300 for it? Interface looks slicker but again some smart phone interaction worth the extra? (Always reminds me of the internet connected kettle - why!). GF a bit upgradeable but who ever does that. I think things have moved on a bit and GF...

    Buffalo boiler elements replacement

So managed to have a look inside and there was some damage on one of the elements. Seems to have a dual element and assume one has failed hence still heats up but not enough for a boil (had it on with 33 lt full to see how it went - 3 hours and only up to 80c). So might replace the element - is...

    David Heath Called out ?

Is this spat still going on - couple of (overly) middle-aged bloggers (with a few k followers each) arguing about who's the most honest/best! It's not as if the Peppa Pigs channel was caught out promoting pork scratchings. But to take sides looks like GF was way ahead of everyone at the price...

    Buffalo boiler elements replacement

didn't have time to do any testing - too busy dragging out my old lidl boiler to finish the brew ( it actually worked really well although a bit full! Might also have jumped to the element failure as that has just happened to our oven. Will have to open it all up and do some investigating.

    Buffalo boiler elements replacement

So I think the element in my buffalo boiler is at it's end - doing a beer at the weekend just wouldn't heat the wort. Few years old and given good service. A quick look and it might be replaceable but cost seem to be about £50 (nisbets) - better to just get something new (an excuse for a all in...

    Water from the hot tap

I fill from the hot tap (combu boiler and soft water). Does cut down on the boil time. One thing I did wonder about is does the fact that the water is hot have any impact on adding campden tablets (or other water treatments)?

What to make of these comments?

But following that process (I also got bored reading it) explains why it is reassuringly expensive.

Forgot to add the irish moss

So looks really cloudy - been a few weeks in the fridge and several pours so suppose will just be like that! Tastes nice .

    Hop growing 2019

Thanks all Think I will plant them out in the pots and cover the top a bit as we have had something digging out our other pots ( not sure if it is a bird or a fox).

    Hop growing 2019

I know I'm a bit early! But - my wife bought me a couple of hop roots for my birthday in October and they have just arrived. Look a bit dry but what should I do with them? I would like to start them off in pots - have a couple of Aldi self watering pots (about 30cm*30*30) would these work for...

Thanks for replies - think I will just do as I normally do and see how it goes.

Forgot to add the irish moss

Did a brew yesterday and realised today that I forgot to add any irish moss into the boil. It's now in fv and fridge at 20c. Now my usual process would be 2 weeks in fv then crash to as low as possible over a couple of days - usually get to about 2-3c. Then into a cornie and force carb and left...

    How bad is bad taste?

So to me the best comedy is inclusive ie that we laugh at ourselves. The bonfire video is not - ' that is what they get when they don't pay their rent '! LTN - must admit long time since I watches it but didn't the 'honky' always come of worse at the end? It poked fun at racism. Probably the same...
