Sugar cubes / lumps for bottle priming?

I've seen people do something along these lines. Say 40 bottles at 5ml per dose = 200ml. So add XX grams of priming sugar, then make it up to 200ml and dose at 5ml per bottle with a syringe. ATB

    Most difficult beer to nail...

I think that pale, low gravity beers are the hardest to make consistently good.....say to around 1040. There is just nowhere to hide wuth these......no big alcohol hit or dark/roast malt flavours to mask whatever may have gone wrong.

Who is brewing this coming weekend?

I'm not sure if I will brew this weekend.....I think it is likely though as I have got a load of hops to get through  I also need to replenish low stock levels and get a couple of trial brew done for my Spring Thing entries :) Have good brewday Barry.....your 2010 harvest looked awesome...

    citra or guzzler bitter

I was thinking about this again last night. If you use Challenger to bitter; a late addition of Willamette would get quite close IMO. Willamette was bred from a fuggle.....fuggle was used to grow Slovienian Stryrian Golding (seedless fuggle)....aurora are 'super styrians'. That was my logic last...

    citra or guzzler bitter

I drink Guzzler very, very regularly as one of my locals stocks it as a guest. It's a great, easy drinking session beer.....too easy drinking some times  According to their website it is made using pale and crystal malt. The hops are Challenger and Celeia. I did a bit of research on the...

Splitting a Liquid Lager Yeast (temperature??)

I don't think you really need to worry too much about temperature for splitting yeast. Usually you would decant the spent wort, and any funky flavours produced would be in the wort. IMO, concentrate on maintaining a good, clean environment for the yeast to grow in......the aim here is to...

    Corny tap cleaning??

You could also buy a 'carbonator cap'.....then swap your disconnect to the grey gas in. The carbonator cap fits a PET bottle; attach and then just squeeze the bottle to push water/cleaner/sanitiser through. The carobnator caps are also very useful for re-carbing soft drinks/mixers in their PET...

    Cleaners/Satinisers & Exposure To Metals

Hi there, Our hobby invloves so much cleaning that I'm always on the look out for products that will make our brewing lives easier. When ordering some hops the other day I came accross 'FiveStar Saniclean', so without thinking too much I ordered a bottle. The active ingredients - 'a blend of...

    Slight astringent taste annoyance

The temperature of the grain bed during the sparge is the important bit. I suffered with a few bad brews myself by sparging too hot. Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=36&t=9890&hilit=+sparging+help ATB

    Beer for the missus!

16.1 IBU  What are you doing....just waving the hops at the boiler?? Seriously, I understand where you are comming from on this. Amarillo hops provide great tasting, smooth bitterness and would be a good alternative to Willamette. Lager malt + a splash of wheat malt and whatever...

Great to have a range of gas available.....particularly the N mixes for stouts. You will need a different regulator though for the mixed gas. ATB
