Getting SG right in extract brews

@simonh82 I don't really know a lot about this, with regards to diastatic power etc, is there somewhere you'd reccomend reading about this? I'm only using about 1.5 kg of specialty grains in most of the partial mash recipes I've been using with about 3 kg of extract malt

Getting SG right in extract brews

Thanks for the help guys @cheapbrew - I mashed for 60 minutes and thanks for the quote, the concern I had was that by increasing the volume I may be extracting the incorrect ratios or undesirable flavours from the grains of that makes sense! But what you have said seems to make sense @myqul...

Getting SG right in extract brews

Ive decided to brew a innis and gunn extract clone as it is one of my favourite beers, recipes online are really varied and there seems to be very little online about people making the...

    Natural yeast

Thanks for the reply! I'll maybe just play it safe and use a yeast packet and Campden tablets, don't want to waste all that time pressing the apples for it to go to waste! There are also some reports of people leaving the cider to ferment for several months with natural sugars to get a super...

    Natural yeast

Hiya guys, apologies if someone already asked this, I've done a fair bit of beer brewing in the past and going to try my hand at cider making. I grow my own apples and have heaps to use, I've been looking on a few forums etc and the majority seem to make use of using a clampden tablet to kill...
