    Cash or card

Same here. I gave up carrying cash about six years ago and gave up carrying a wallet during the pandemic. Phone or watch now.

    Just stop oil

You’re absolutely right, but perhaps as a society we would be fitter with fewer ailments if more people did.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna75620 She has a young grandchild who is not yet able to think or articulate on this scale. She is protesting to protect his future and the future of his environment and I for one applaud her for her actions.

I think you’ve rather missed the point of what she was saying.

Yeah and that’s not exactly ideal either. We can’t just go on burying stuff in the ground and pretending it’s sorted. Too many people sticking their fingers in their ear and going la la la la la, out of sight out of mind. Too many companies coining it in while f’ing over kids and grandkids...

Carbon capture. Hmm, I’m not sure I like the idea of sweeping problems under the rug and leaving them for future generations to deal with. It’s the CO2 equivalent of landfill, not cool.

Public support doesn’t matter, they just need to make it not economically viable to be ignored.

A huge amount of China’s pollution is caused by producing stiff for the Uk, EU and USA. Can we put a huge dent in it alone, maybe not. We are one of the richest nations on earth and we consume a disproportionate share of its resources. Our wealth and global influence makes us key (particularly...

And yes we’re not talking about votes etc and yes it’s a clumsy example. My point is that the status quo doesn’t change willingly because someone with power and money loses out.

Women spent decades trying to get the votes, no one took any notice until the suffragettes, a group who sacrificed their lives and threatened the lives others too action. Change doesn’t come about through peaceful protest of banner waving. I don’t advocate violence but it’s an inescapable fact...

    First Bike

Thanks for the benefit of your experience, balance bike it is then. I”ll freely admit that bikes weren’t really on my radar. My Dad had a disability that meant he never learned to ride a bike so in the end another kid taught me when I was eight or nine years old. Jof - yeah, I’d say that’s a...

    First Bike

One for all you cyclists (or anyone who’s got small children). My little boy is turning two in October and we are looking at getting him his first bike. He had great fun trying a balance bike at a local cycling club open day, but I’m not sure whether that’s the best route or if he’d be better...

    My post, Pink army

Agreed Chippy. Also and I would argue crucially, people have no control over their skin colour or ethnic origin, but are entirely responsible for their own weight. Doesn’t make either insult ok, just say.

How much do you value repeatability?

100% this. It’s also how I approach the kitchen. I do a huge amount of cooking and always make notes if I’m making something new so I can tweak it the following few times. When I’ve nailed the dish I write out the final recipe and stick it on the shared drive so that my wife can access it too.

    What razor do you use.

Gillette Slim Adjustable mid 60’s with Gillette 7 O’Clock blades - but rarely, I wear a beard most of the time. Most of my shaving is with an old Gillette Mach 3, shaving my head in the shower. Biggest and best change for me was moving to shaving soap. I buy boxes of Arko shaving sticks, I...

    In my opinion today

I find some sports more fun to play / participate in than others, but in the same way playing tag at school was fun. I can’t comprehend any grown adult participating in a sport seriously and the idea of living vicariously by supporting a team just seems weird. I appreciate through, that I am...
