    Elections.

Which of these do you want to do away with first: the NHS, free Schooling, British Owned Companies, The Armed Forces, Emergency Services? The Tories have a record of trying to sell all of these off, usually to the lowest bidder. Mind you they then wrap themselves in the Union Flag so it makes...

New Aussie Flavour Hop - Eclipse Hops

So I made a quite simple AG with this (ignore the two different types of base grain as I was at the end of one and starting another) here are my results: For reference the poison is just me saying hop bitterness. I found this to be one of the best new hops that I have tried and I have tried...

    I it generally cheaper

My wife bought me a youngs lager kit set up with one bucket etc. I left it for a year and then started to make it and once I was drinking it I thought soon I can go back to my normal Kronneberg or whatever - all I have to do is get through this 40 pints. I then got to a beer that had been...

    Fusion Hops (2016)

Sounds good. I will probably do the same with the Opus - Just pale ale and maybe light crystal or carapils - to get the feel of the hop. I would do a Smash but to be honest I am not looking for a new bittering hop so will put it in later additions.

New Aussie Flavour Hop - Eclipse Hops

Got some and looking forward to trying this out!

    Fusion Hops (2016)

I think Fusion brings a mild fruitiness but nothing massive - on those beers I did it was the malts that really stood out - if I did it again I might just use it in a Golden or IPA style beer to try and get to the hop profile. I am now going to try the Opus and learnt from the Fusion results so...

    Victorian Bitter

Great review. I used Chevalier in a Porter and wondered why I had such a high final gravity. Might make use of your mash schedule although that looks like a long time first thing in the morning!

Would you still vote for Brexit?

Of course yes - I really want to spend more on my cheese and diary products and have to get visas etc to travel around Europe. Also so happy that my children wont be able to study (for free!) in European Universities - its going to be wonderful.

    Terry Foster Porter Recipe

I was being a bit tongue in cheek with MO - although I love its malty flavours. In other beers I use all the other malts depending on the style. I do like GP but sometimes that is more expensive than MO. Used to get my Hook malts but the delivery charge is per box whilst some of the others are...

    Terry Foster Porter Recipe

Maris Piper in my opinion are the best potatoes for Roast apart from the top of the range Tesco ones (can't remember what they call that range). King Edwards, the ones I grew up with, seem to be half black inside (haven't looked up what that is about) and the other types are ok but not up to MP...

    Rye Malt

I saw somewhere that the idea that Rye is spicy comes from the taste of Rye bread which has other things in it that makes it Spicy - therefore Rye itseld isnt spicey when used in its natural form. Will soon see as I am making a rye beer shortly.

    New to Grainfather G30

Yep..missed that bit so therefore I agree :-)

    New to Grainfather G30

"don't understand why the top plate is there " I like it for sparging - used to brew on an open mash in a converted tea urn and all that shaking to get the sparge water in every part of the grain bed was a pain - I figure the holes in the top plate take my work away!

    Simply pale Ale with Ekg.

I used to use the Simply range when I brewed kits as well as Coopers (especially the APA) and experiment with hops in them ...great base kits.

    Kit plus mash

I have done this once with a Kit I inherited. Didn't want to just chuck in sugar or shell out for dried Malt so made a full AG and used some of the hopped wort with the KIT and added a few steeped grains - won me a prize at a local summer faire beer comp!

    Terry Foster Porter Recipe

I did an experiment - three beers one with DRC, one with Melanoidin and one with Aromatic - I liked the Aromatic the least - it had a harsh edge in the beer I made compared to the other two.

    Terry Foster Porter Recipe

"My own experimenting with Imperial Malt has gone badly wrong because I was also testing the DRC malt too. Something taste good (probably Simpson's DRC) but I don't know what. Which is why you don't change two things at the same time. I know this, but do I take any notice? " I like DRC - it...

    Terry Foster Porter Recipe

It was your symmetry line - I wasn't thinking in terms of balance I think I was assuming as someone did the recipe then 1 third of each would have enough conversion - once I opened my eyes/mind I realised that 2 of these bring flavour/sweetness etc but no conversion, if that makes sense. Looking...

So. Who remembers Beer Festivals? Which/where was your last?

Myself and two other brewers swop beer (in a car park which looks dodgy but we are all social distanced!) then meet up on line and taste and give our reviews and opinions. We have done two of these in the last few weeks and they really work. Still like the beer festivals though as I am too old...

So. Who remembers Beer Festivals? Which/where was your last?

Every year my Brother in Law and I go to the Baldock Beer Festival - loads of beer and at least three bands during the night. No entrance fee and good food on offer. Sadly not this year so we attended the Beer 52 on line beer festival - good fun but not as good as the Baldock one!
