Pale ale cloudy four days after bottling

I rinse them, dish washer them and then cap them with a plastic cap or cling film before going to the garage, then they get starsaned at bottling stage.

Pale ale cloudy four days after bottling

Your beer is warm conditioning I take it? It's in doors in cold weather and you probably have the heating on? I would warm condition it and then leave it in a cold place for a couple of weeks and it will probably clear. With my first brew on the grain father I forget the Profloc tablet and no...

Which grains as a starting point?

I echo most of what has already been said. I buy base grain in 25kg bags and you will need a vermin proof container as mice love it. I normally use MO normal and extra light but have used Golden promise and bog standard pale ale malt if I feel the need to save money. Always use either Carapils...

Grainmaster etc Vs 3 tier system

I built up a set using a Buffalo boiler which because I couldn't get it to boil became my mash tun...had a brewing thermostat installed and used a couple of sleeping bags for installation and finally a brew bag to ensure that I could remove the grain. I coupled this with a 30 litre bruferm stock...

    Rakau Red

This is an "IPA" using 4kg MO, 500g Carared and 300g of torrified wheat. The idea was to get a kind of reddish beer. The hops were 22g of Chinook at boil, 13g of Rakau at 15g and 20g Rakau for a 20 min hop stand. Pitched US05 OG is 1056 so this will be 6% if it gets down to 1010. Colour at...

    No Man's Land Yuletide Beer

This was really nice, kind of fruity as in dark fruits and very different from the IPAs I have been doing lately.

Not Middle Earth (New Zealand Pale Ale)

What hops would you suggest with Rakau? I have them in my cupboard waiting their turn along with Jester...both hops that I haven't tried.

    Kentish Bitter ready

Agree with the yeast comment. Dried yeasts are pretty inexpensive and give a great opportunity to change the finished beer and allow experimentation. I will start to use liquid yeast and harvest them at sometime in the future but at the moment I am playing with these different yeasts in the same...

Not Middle Earth (New Zealand Pale Ale)

Hey Foxy, what was your hop profile for the Wai Iti Pale ale? I have 100g of these and thought I might do a SMaSH with them.

    D (a rye flavoured yeast test - no 1 US05)

147th 10/01/18 Official title D (as in D&T). 4kg Maris Otter extra light, 500G Rye Malt, 250g Carapils. Hops 20g Centennial (10%) at start of boil, 20g Jarrylo (13.3%) at 15 and then 20G Jarrylo and 20G Amarillo hops at flame out. Yeast for this one is US05 and the OG is 1054 so we will be look...

    No Man's Land Yuletide Beer

I had a number of bits and pieces of malt and hops and thought to make them into a beer as you do. As it it Christmas and we have German (and their first world war allies) ingredients but British yeast and some MO malt my wife suggested the moment when they had a truce on Christmas day. So...

    Speeding up brew day

I aim to get a hop spider but currently I use hop bags in my boil and never have floating hops. That is a really cheap way to do this if you don't want to have hops on your chiller.

    Noob Needs Help

Have you got enough liquid in the trial jar..does it hit the bottom? Have you tried it with water and filled to the top? This will give you an idea of whether it actually works. If there was no alcahol but sugar present it would float higher..

Testing Aromatic V Crystal Rye Challenge

Yep...maybe use Pilsner to get a cleaner base malt..using this for first time in a Patersbier this weekend.

Testing Aromatic V Crystal Rye Challenge

The Aromatic malt does give the brew a slightly more malty flavour although not as much as I thought. We brewed a simple straightforward beer with 4.5kg Maris, 250g Carapils and 150g Aromatic (3%) and it did have a slight malty edge but nothing too noticeable. Maybe we should go up to 5 or 6% to...

I reckon that works  however I like to play about to find the perfect beer so I need to record it all!

Testing Aromatic V Crystal Rye Challenge

How did it go? I used both Crystal Rye and Crystal malt in one of my beer and it was really nice!
