    NEIPA hints and tips

The CO2 inflators are also used in the likes of king kegs etc. I’m not going to claim that it is safe to do but I can tell you I haven’t noticed any ill effects personally. Perhaps you can buy food grade ones? I have a few of them, have used this one with good result...

    NEIPA hints and tips

It is just a case of flooding the headspace with co2. You need a co2 canister (the little disposable ones normally £1 a pop) and co2 tyre inflator that has flow control, maybe £8. I fill 10 or so bottles then for each one hold the inflator just in the neck of the bottle and very gently crack...

    NEIPA hints and tips

The two biggest things for me have been Chinook dry hop at pitch (I use a bag and pull out after 5 days or so), I always use chinook for this but I’m sure others would work. This always gives me a very hazy beer even with fining so I do believe it makes a difference. I fill the bottles then I...

Reusing yeast by adding fresh wort on top of the yeast cake

I often do this, mostly due to laziness. Means I only have to clean FV every other batch!

Favorite Yeast for brewing Real Ale

Pour off your bottle of proper job carefully after refrigerating, much like a bottle of home brew keep the last few ml. Put bottle back in fridge with a tin foil cap until ready to harvest but within a day or two. Mix 5g of DME with 100ml boiled water and allow to cool, pour in dregs (i...

4 week grain to glass recipe

I’d go for a neipa style or hoppy pale (I think these drink best fresh!), with a decent English yeast. Dry hop at pitch and at 5 days. Bit of a crowd pleaser with mosaic, citra and galaxy say. I wouldn’t worry about a week cold, just make sure they have two weeks to carb! You can always get...

Favorite Yeast for brewing Real Ale

St Austell (from a bottle of proper job). Genuinely tasty in a huge range of styles. Have brewed bitters, ipa, golden and I’ve even just done a kolsch with it (at lower temp). Does really well at room temp as well as in a ferm fridge

    Dry Hopped Larger

For a commercial example try adnams dry hop lager if you haven’t before. They use galaxy. my guess is it’s only a small charge in the dry hop but it works very well! No idea on bittering but I think you’re probably right to use a noble!

    Raspberry Berliner Weiss Help

I find two carb drops in 500ml to be horribly gassy. I’d recommend 3-3.5g table sugar per bottle for a nice fizz. Think the carb drops are 2g each?

Very rapid verdant yeast has me questioning my timings, help needed please!

If you are worried about oxidation, avoid the cold crash unless you are using a co2 balloon type system! When you crash you suck air back in through the airlock supposedly

    NEIPA revelation

I was really pleased with the outcome of the one I tried to brew, although I made it a little more bitter than some. I have no fancy equipment but I did purge the headspace of the bottle with a bike tyre co2 inflator. I left one as bottled without purging so I can do a side by side which I must...

    Ingredients ordering

Cheers all, I’ve gone for 5kg each of crisp clear ale, pale ale and Vienna, 3kg of crisp floor MO and 1kg of Chevallier. I’ve got plenty of dark and cara grains left over. Should see me right for the next ten or so brews!
