Do I need to kiln my barley? (All Grain Recipe)

I'll let someone else answer for sure but I believe there may be different types of Barley suited to bread. It will have to go through a malting process if you are going to try and brew from it. Which basically is germinating the barley and then quickly stopping the process as far as I am aware...

    Lawrence22 Brew day

Today I will be brewing for the third time what I believe to be the best brew I have done to date. It is a watered down version Of Post Doc brewing Demon Star stout. I have brewed it the last 2 years for Xmas at the end of August. I have noticed though that this stout really comes into its' own...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Only 2 bottles of my Irish/American Red ale left and drank one of those earlier. I've went and done it again, beer was great, drank the lot way too early. Thing is I know if I brew it again i'll probably do the same thing again.

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Initial reaction is very good. This is absolutely full of different flavours, but I obviously have it too cold at the moment so I'm going to sip slowly at it till it warms up a bit.

Anyone else restrict their alcohol intake by doing this...?

I was quite a heavy drinker as a young man but I have never been a drink every night sort. Only exception would be on a 2 week summer holiday. Now I only drink on Fridays and Saturdays and sometimes once midweek but that would only be one or two. I do however drink stronger beer than I used to...

    Kit v All Grain Costs

Well I don't spend a lot on other stuff. Only other hobby is golf and I haven't bought any new clubs in 10 years. I'm not panicking about the cost at all. The reason I started calculating the cost of a pint over time was in response to a friend who was convinced I was throwing money down the...

    Kit v All Grain Costs

I have been calculating as I go. At the moment I'm down to £2.80 per pint. Sounds dear but this includes all equipment that I have bought as well ingredients approx £3k. However from now on this price should only down (as long as nothing expensive breaks) as I have all the equipment I need for...

    Im new to brewing

I'm from just outside Belfast which I would say has a very similar climate to Newcastle upon Tyne and you will need some sort of temperature control to do a lager well. You have to be able to keep the temperature constant at first and then have the ability to ramp it up for a Diacetyl rest. It...

    Resistance - Belgian Tripel

Can I ask how long you condition this style? Something I've been looking at myself, thinking of it for Xmas.
