Anyone tried the original of this? It seems very popular to brew, and it's won IPA of the year and top 10 beers of the year. It must be decent, just wondered if anyone has tried it? Can we get it here? Beer Hawk are usually pretty good at selling rare beers, but they've not got it...

I've been a sucker for these in the past. I've even bought the US Brewdog Shares. What a palaver that was, took 4 months! I'll probably ditch all I can at the next opportunity to sell.

I use quick disconnects. I'm new to all this, and have only used QD's and I rate them. Never failed me, strong and sturdy and no faffing.

I've been leaving the batch sparge water on the grains for as long as it takes to recirculate. So maybe 2 minutes. Maybe I should be leaving it longer, and as you say.. set the pump to a trickle rather than sucking the water out on full thrust. I will try it and update. I'm brewing again tomorrow.

Exactly as you say. I used to tool to calculate based on the grain, and then typed in what I actually got.

Hey and welcome. I lived in Bristol for many years and know Brewers Droop well. In fact I was there just recently. It seems they sell more actual beer now, than ingredients but still a great shop.

That doesn't sound quite so bad now.. if I only missed my mark by 7%... but it doesn't make sense. If the recipe says I should achieve 1.058 with 65% efficiency. It's adjusted the grains accordingly. So of course, if my efficiency of the recipe was higher, fewer grains would be required...
