Hot Break. Stir it in or scrape it off?

Which do you do? And which is best? I've seen some brewers just stir it back into the boil, and I've seen others scrape if off with a sieve. I tend to scrape it off with a sieve as I like to see the actual wort boiling, but maybe I'm wrong in doing that?

Not quite reached FG in 2 weeks

The OG was spot on, 1.048. The yeast was Mangrove Jacks M44 US West Coast Yeast.

Not quite reached FG in 2 weeks

Hey Guys, I'm sure I already know the answer to this but I just wanted to clarify.. I was looking for 1.009 on my West Coast IPA. After 2 weeks (well very nearly), it's at 1.011. It's flat as a pancake regarding fermentation, crausen gone entirely and zero activity which is what I'd expect...

    Weighing grain?

I use postal scales from beerhawk.co.uk. They're great. Very precise, a range of measurements and the front section detaches so that no matter how big the bucket, you can read the display. Just realised it's probably easier to throw a link... https://www.beerhawk.co.uk/ultraship-35-digital-scale

    Conditioning. Cold or Warm?

Yep, that's the idea! But muppet here didn't think and pulled the valve when changing the collection bottle without thinking :( Next time... next time lol

    Conditioning. Cold or Warm?

I did a closed transfer. It's back in the fridge now.. I've put 12psi in it to keep it gassed.. I'll try to leave it for as long as possible :)

    Conditioning. Cold or Warm?

What's the best temperature for conditioning? I've just put an IPA into a cornie for conditioning. It's still cold from cold crashing (which worked perfectly, it's already so clear). But I'd like to condition it for a week or two. Shall I just put the keg in the kegerator and leave it there...

    Is fermentation taking too long?

Guess not, at least you can run the lawn mower on it :) Just noticed your name, are you my Dad?

    Zombie Dust

This looks good. I was going to ask if the malt substitutions worked out good, but if none of us have tried the original it's hard to say lol. Gonna try this, but I'll stick to Citra right through as I have 300g.

    Is fermentation taking too long?

Hi Dave, Firstly, there's not many of us in Devon. Where abouts are you? Secondly, 12/12 was only just over a week ago. I'd say to leave it for a while and see what happens. What is your FG supposed to be according to your recipe? I'm no expert (there are plenty of them on here, so someone...

    Zombie Dust

but I've not had zombie dust, and I want some :D My favourite american beer is by Newglarus, it's called Moon Man. It's an interesting brewery as they won't sell outside of Wisconsin.

    Zombie Dust

I've spent a lot of time (most of 2016) in the USA. So I've been fortunate enough to sample many craft ales in their natural surroundings, I have to say it's some of the best beer I've tasted!

Interesting thoughts, thanks. As others have suggested, I suspect it travels poorly. Maybe it's time to make it then :)

    Grain Alternatives

Does anyone know of a nice, concise and easy to read grain alternatives chart? I have seen about 20 but none seem to contain all the information. I find so many recipes online that call for American 2-Row, and I've found that a standard pale malt is a good alternative. I now buy my malt...
