    Donald Trump.

Yeah, I do agree with you about it being too soon for the economy, just making the point that he can't claim it as some kind of achievement for the same reason. Didn't mean to single your quotes out as a Trump supporter either sorry :laugh8: I do think N Korea could be a big achievement, but...

    Donald Trump.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to me to expect the president of the united states to be less childish than some random person on the street. The protests started round the corner from my office on Friday and I had a wander about on my lunch break. There were plenty of personal signs, but the...

And the Sarson's award goes to...

Haha I would watch that. I once used my (unsanitised) finger to push a dry hop bag under the surface. Only time I've done something like that and only time my beer got an infection. I think in the end was a wild yeast strain, a pellicle formed and no sour/vinegar tastes but a very noticeable...

    DIY PBW

Having another look, the phosphate free "TSP" that the site recommends seems to be 100% Sodium Metasilicate Pentahydrate like this stuff: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BWR4A42/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 Sugar soap seems to vary by manufacturer so I'm not sure about that either.

    Boris gone.

I feel like you could make the exact same argument the other way (i.e. it only said 'Leave the EU' on the ballot paper and said nothing about ditching regulations, closing the borders or leaving the single market) and that for me is the issue. I don't think people that voted to leave didn't...

    DIY PBW

I've just come across this blog which discusses adding other chemicals to Oxy clean to make it closer in cleaning power to PBW (Specifically Trisodium phosphate or green equivalent + a comment mentions citric acid as a chelating agent)...

    Maple Syrup

I've never done it, but did notice BYO have just released an article on it: https://byo.com/article/maple-beer/?utm_source=Brew+Your+Own+-+Live&utm_campaign=405a9efbec-newsletter22_inactive&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b55e7c72d8-405a9efbec-65372349&mc_cid=405a9efbec&mc_eid=7640ac6ee6

    making a sour

I’ve literally just done my first sour this week, DME and same process you outlined. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. I used a Lacto Brevis vial from white labs (£3 from lhbs) which apparently isn’t the best for quick spurs & I had a bit of trouble getting the ph down low enough. Things I’ll...

    HELP! No fermentation started!

My only batch of TC showed no sign of fermentation at any point but fermented fine in the end. Don’t worry, give it some time and see what happens, all good experience! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Lactic Acid question

No, it's this brand: https://www.mysticmomentsuk.com/products/lactic-acid-liquid Glad you made me look up the actual company...just noticed they have chemical specification docs at the bottom of the page: "A natural L-Lactic acid, which is produced by fermentation from carbohydrates. It can be...

    Lactic Acid question

Yup, for adjusting PH. I want to start experimenting with kettle sours so mainly pre acidifying wort down to about 4.5. Apparently people use it for skin peels o_O

    Some advice please...

It’s a bit of a how longs a piece of string question, but maybe start with say 50g? You might want to bag the hops when you put them in to make it easier to syphon off the beer afterwards, especially if you don’t have the ability to cold crash. Someone more experienced can say whether this...

    New internet laws articles 11 & 13

I think in effect the costs of moving and effect on service for the internet giants would be higher than just ponying up, but I could imagine a lot of smaller services moving...

    Lactic Acid question

Morning all Does anyone know if the lactic acid they sell for cosmetic purposes is different than the food-grade stuff? I've been using powder but it was kind of annoying me, so I bought some liquid. wasn't till I read the back that I realised it was being sold for cosmetics. On the front it...

    New internet laws articles 11 & 13

Yeah, my understanding is that the laws will not apply to a site hosted outside the EU as I’m not sure how they could. Might be wrong though. It also looks like there is no problem with linking to other content only with including snippets/content from the linked site, like google does. I guess...
