Best cheap kettle for home built boiler

Hello all, this is really interesting to me and exactly what I'm contemplating, but is this not a better buy over all https://www.klarstein.co.uk/index.php?cl=details&cnid=d5de636772474df01690626dae61c46b&anid=a93d4fcecb5f4a8a9c63f5f1ce3e377e&listtype=list&&force_sid=rir725nmg1lr9juqfesg0vr9f1...

Super Cheap Syphon Pump and filter

After looking at it I'll probably do the same, it was the filter I liked the look of, might try and incorporate it into my old standard syphon as I find a hop sock clogs up.

Super Cheap Syphon Pump and filter

Hi, has anyone used this type of syphon or got any thoughts? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Home-Brew-Syphon-Pack-Wine-Making-Hand-Knead-Siphon-Filter-Tube-Long-2M-TT/222926543392 I've just had one turn up today, they only cost a couple of quid and come with a fine metal filter, so thought I'd...

    Too Much Bittering Hops!!

Thanks GerritT, The bottling from secondary is exactly what I was thinking. I was going to have a secondary with a Tap and bottle from the tap with a spear. All I was worried about was adding priming sugar to the secondary and then having to stir and end up disturbing anything on the bottom...

    Too Much Bittering Hops!!

How do you calculate this? I put the recipe into Brewers Friend and it has come out with IBU of 38.11, that's for 30g Challenger and 8g 1st Gold in 13l of wort. TBH I don't know if I'm using BF correctly but it seems pretty self explanatory. What is considered a high IBU? Is there a chart for...

    Too Much Bittering Hops!!

Hi Thanks for your replies. This is interesting, the recipe is from the "ultimate home-brew book" which I was bought for Christmas years ago. This particular recipe comes from the British beer section and is called "India Pale Ale". Thing is there seem to be a lot of mistakes regarding SG, this...

    Too Much Bittering Hops!!

Thanks Mick. TBH I tried the wort and it was fine, definitely bitter, but I do quite like that. Only put it in the FV at 3pm and the airlock has just bubbled, hopefully a good start!

    Too Much Bittering Hops!!

Hi All, I have just done my second AG brew using the BIAB method. The recipe is below. problem is I put the full amount of bittering hops in! So 30g in 13l which was the correct weight hops for 23l. The original recipe was for 23l and I reduced this to 13l 3kg Maris Otter 0.25kg Crystal 17g...

Have a go at simple AG

So, Ive just bottled my first AG brew, seems ok, it is quite week but the flavour that is there seems good, it is slightly sweet and very clear already, just got to wait a few weeks now. On my next brew I intend to make between 10l and 15l BIAB would this be ok to put in a 25l barrel? I found...

Have a go at simple AG

Thanks MyQul, gives me a bit of reassurance! It smells a little like toast, but I guess this is normal because of the yeast still present?

Have a go at simple AG

Hi all, quite new to this forum but been doing kit brews on and off for a while, I ve got the Youngs AIPA nearly ready to barrel, and thought I'd have a go at this simple all grain recipe. I have followed it almost to the letter using fuggle hops and muntons gold yeast. The brew day went well...

    Youngs American IPA

Hi All my first post here, and wish I had found this thread slightly earlier! I'm doing this Youngs AIPA kit and it got off to a great start. I brewed it a little longer, about 24l and as said it started at 1.050. Today is day 10 and the gravity had reached 1.010 which is when the instructions...
