    Sanitary rotary syphon

Nice thing, is that it's only a silicone hose to clean and sterilise. While other pumps, aĺl a pain to keep clean. I'd rather spend 30seconds priming, than hours extra, sterilising.

    Bottle carbonation.

Seems strange. Any chance you're bottle seals aren't good; the bottles aren't getting as much yeast; or that you're leaving too much headspace? I mainly use swing tops, and fill to the shoulder (step in glass) just below the swing fixing indents. But leave a little more headspàce, in one or two...

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

Used the whirlpool arm the first few brews, but don't think the built in pump is powerfull enough to create a decent whirlpool on its own. I supplemented with drill degassing paddle, or vigerous stir. Whirlpool should leave trub (cone) in middle. So on BZg4 wiith centre drain, I guess whirlpool...

    Stainless steel beer barrels

Likewise, but not diameter-or-electrically. I use barrels + S30 for simplicity. And because places round here, won't do CO2 refills anymore. Unless refilled every 6 months, or re-tested.

    Sanitary rotary syphon

Yes, mainly for priming, but pump angle, also seems to act as flow switch. I would call it a sYphon priming pump, pronounced sigh-phon. And pronounce siphon, as sip-hon.

Let me know when you have the 3D files ready!

    Sanitary rotary syphon

These rotary syphon pumps look a neat idea. Hand crank operates the planetary gear pump, then a half turn starts or stops syphon flow. And it's just a (removeable) silicone tube to clean, which sounds much better than the other auto-syphons I've seen. Just not sure, what diameter silicon tube...

Final Gravity- is 1.002 close enough for my home made Ginger Wine

Most wines, including ginger, are fermenting simple sugars only. So would normally ferment down to SG 0.990 or below, unless yeast stopped by high alcohol or stabiliser addition. Without either, later re-fermentation is quite likely. SG 1.005 to 1.017 is generally considered the medium sweet...

Stuck fermentation when using two kits and two yeast sachets

When going for higher ABVs, try to help the yeast by (a) oxygenating the wort, and (b) keeping initial gravity down. (a) By pouring from height; by vigerous stirring (easier with drill degasser, but introducing air); air bubbler for two days or a burst of compressed oxygen. Perhaps your batch 2...

What if some people are genetically unable to perceive astringency,

That's half of it. And maybe similar to trying to describe music or sounds, that someone can't hear, in words. Maybe ultrasonic bat 'cheep' patterns (to anyone), a high pitched dog whistle (to the elderly), or Beethoven to a someone born deaf. A simple hearing test, can tell us what out hearing...

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

Not home now, but I'd guess cable is arount 4ft long. There's enough slack for a mount maybe 1ft away from BZ (at about same height). Apparantly an extension cable is made. Unsure if it's available in UK, but if the connector can be identified. It wouldn't be difficult to make. My BZ is often...

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

Only the occasional splash here, when sparging or lifting malt pipe. But worry that OP's report, said display was wrecked by a single spill. And think protection, from my regular condensation dribbles during boil, could be worthwhile (I need a couple of containers, on floor, to collect catch all...

    Crossmyloof

Grains, spray malt and dextrose, all showing out of stock at the moment. So hoping I'm able to order soon.

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

And I guess, dribbles on the controller? Reports (on foreign forum) saying BZ controller display dying after liquid got in. Due to the controller box, having no gasket seal. Replacement $90+, but doesn't look available in UK. So wondering if there's any suggestions, for a good way to protect...

How long will wine last with NovaTwist screw caps?

To store, really long term, or just to make attractive gifts, 'wax' sealing is possible. It's actually a mix of hot melt glue (lower temperature type) and wax crayon (crayola seems most recommended). They're heated and mixed, in a small container (empty tin can), the inverted bottle is dipped...

    Racking my wine question

Hating waste, I always try to cut down on racking losses, especially when racking from anything with a wide base. By raising the rear edge, with a wedge, this increase depth, at the front (where I syphon from). So, if syphoning till say 2cm remains, most of the base will then be completely...

    Phosphoric Acid dilution calculation

Update, as niw running out of Lactic. When using Brewfather, either Lactic or Phosphoric acids, seem the only additions alliwed in 'acid mash' or acid 'sparge' calculations. While AMS/CRS, comes under BF water adjustment chemicals. So it can be AUTO (for mash). But don't see any way of BF...

My 100 litre stainless steel fermenter has turned a strange colour at the bottom?

2nd, Barkeepers Friend (an acidic cleaner). I use it, on base of my AIO system, if it starts looking similar. But is only needed occasionally, maybe once, every 6 or so brews. I prefer the powered version (a mild abrasive), to the cream. Good alternative is citric acid (lemon juice) not...

    Electric cars.

UK consumption is down drastically, mostly from getting rid of most industries. So generation capacity must be down. As we've gone from generating all our electricity, in the days of heavy industry; before Thatcher; and before the multiple subsea power cables. To now only generating, on...

    PG Tips drinkers.

Had a few glasses, then read that as "they may be a religious item..." Well, I do think tea drinking is important. A Typhoo person myself, as like pack division into smaller foil sealed sachets, for freshness. So was stocking up last week, when Typhoo went into administration (though a buyer...
