First brew a few teething problems.

That's right, it's Block Party Amber Ale. Not tried anymore yet as yesterday I tucked in to the Belgian beer selection the wife bought me for Xmas, one of them, Orval in particular was very nice. Will sample more tonight I'm sure of the Block Party! How did your beef & ale pie turn out?

First brew a few teething problems.

So, just tried it and carbonation has started and will hopefully improve a little in the next few days. The head was very flat as you'll see against the Doom bar I served alongside it. I did take a little video but too big to post so only have the image. In terms of taste, still a little...

First brew a few teething problems.

So, as the bottles have been conditioning for 10 days, would it be best to leave at room temperature for another 4 days then chill or start to chill them now so I can drink a few in 4 days. Tempted to try one tonight :beer1:

Thanks for doing that. Ill order another pack tonight, like you say, best to be safe. Should I put the two packs in then or is too much yeast a no no?

    LME & Saaz Recipe

Great and yes, I think I'll need the recipe with me before I go to the shop. The shop I visited had an old book which the lady pulled this recipe kit from but it was from an all grain recipe so wasn't sure how to brew it. Noted, thanks again.

    LME & Saaz Recipe

Hi MyQul, Thanks for the reply. The % on the front says 3.0. So, would the brew go something like the following: Add 1kg of LME to the kettle and heat to a boil. Then add the final 1kg LME and also add the 25g @ 60, 15g @ 10 and final 15g @ 1 as you mention above? I'm confident I can...

    LME & Saaz Recipe

Hi All, I'm looking to do my 2nd brew and as I have the lads around for Poker, I'd like to offer them something to drink but given their limited desire to try new beers I'm opting for a lager. I went to the LHBS earlier and instead of opting for a kit, I asked about a BIAB recipe but ended...

First brew a few teething problems.

Cheers GerritT, appreciate the link. When I pour the first glass should I leave a little in the bottle that contains the sediment? Is there a way to eradicate this issue with experience? Attached are the images of the ale itself, the FG reading and also another Duvel I'm relaxing...

First brew a few teething problems.

Thanks for the advice, I'll google this. As I worried about the sediment, I have ended up with 30, 500ml bottles which are now nicely tucked away. I've covered with a towel in case they pop? If taht advisable or will it make them too warm? The room they are in fluctuates between 65 and 75 at the...

First brew a few teething problems.

One other thing, I have just sanitised the bottles but on the outside they have a residue building on them. I used 40g of Brewsafe as it said use 25g for 5 litres but I was using 8 litres of water. Could it be too much sanitiser? Can I rinse them with water or just leave them as they are...

Great, I'll supplement some waste to avoid the sediment- thanks for the tip. Looking forward to this bit!
